ONE more day until the election!

It's been a wild ride ever since I decided to run back at the end of September last year. It has been fun walking and knocking doors, sign-waving, phone-banking, coffees, brunches, and so much more.

I voted! Be sure to get out and vote to make your voice heard!

Tomorrow is the last day to mail in our ballots. After tomorrow, be sure to drop off the ballot in one of the yellow boxes at Honolulu Hale or Kānewai Community Park (I dropped mine off at Kānewai because there's no traffic there); we can also vote in-person at Honolulu Hale.

Track your ballot by signing up here: https://hawaii.ballottrax.net/voter/ . I signed up after dropping off my ballot and I received a text confirming that my ballot was counted.

Thank you so much to Adam, Auntie Puni, and Auntie Nancy for standing with me and supporting me from the very beginning. We have worked together on all manner of community issues, from the park, to traffic safety, to *fingers crossed* a new farmer's market. Join us to keep fighting to improve our neighborhood!

I'm fighting so that my friends can afford to bring their kids back home from places like the 9th island. So that they feel their kids have a future here; to share the same experiences they had growing up in our wonderfully unique island home.

The DHHL meeting this Mon evening was packed! While it was good for DHHL to share its long-term goals and overall strategy, very little time was allowed for community engagement, which is even more frustrating given how many residents attended.

It will be up to me, if elected, to follow through, work with community leaders and DHHL staff, and ensure issues like derelict homes and traffic safety are resolved, not pushed aside.

Having grown up and stayed in Makiki, I believe our district can be the destination, not a pass-through. To keep families at home in our neighborhood, we need better opportunity, more affordability, and the safety to enjoy life to its fullest. Let's keep working together to make our district the spot to be.

A wonderfully heart-warming start to the week. One family has cheerfully waved and greeted us for months when they pass by, going to summer school. Last week, one of the brothers broke his arm. It was a real treat when he asked that I join his friends in signing the cast.

Small stories like these are why I love Makiki and am here to stay. We can build community, one friend at a time!

Thank you so much to my parents for all the love and support. They were the first people I called, back in September to get this show on the road. Admin work, sign-waving, canvassing; you name it, they've done it. I could not have made it this far without all the love and hard work they've poured into this journey.
