Freeman Seabird Preserve

Freeman Seabird Preserve FSP is the last Wedge-tailed Shearwater colony on the south shore of O'ahu. Hawaii Audubon Society is the steward of this land.

Approximately 800 birds nest in this restored breeding site, surrounded by native plants. Following the donation of a one-acre coastal plot in 2007, the Hawaii Audubon Society established the Freeman Seabird Preserve at Black Point. Ongoing habitat restoration and colony monitoring work seeks to increase our knowledge of the shearwaters and all that they encompass.
