A night of remembrance, resilience, and aloha. ❤️

Honored to join the 2nd Annual Lights for Lahaina, led by Lahainaluna High School, as the community came together in prayer, p**e, remembrance, and hope.

It was powerful to walk alongside so many who continue to carry Lahaina forward with strength and love.

It was an honor to recognize 1st Sgt. Efren H. Aguilar for a lifetime of service, leadership, and mentorship. 🇺🇸🌺

After dedicating 26 years of service to the United States Army, 1st Sgt. Aguilar continued his commitment to serving others by mentoring generations of students through JROTC programs at Nānākuli Middle and High School and at his alma mater, Farrington High School.

Through his leadership and dedication, Farrington’s JROTC program earned numerous awards and accolades, including state and national titles—bringing tremendous pride to the Governors and our entire community. 🏆

What makes his legacy even more meaningful is the spirit of aloha he brings to everything he does. I remember his kindness and welcoming nature from my own high school days, and years later, that same warmth and dedication continue to shine through in the students and communities he has impacted.

On behalf of the Hawaiʻi State Legislature, mahalo, 1st Sgt. Aguilar, for your military service and for continuing to serve by inspiring, mentoring, and shaping future generations of leaders.

Congratulations on an incredible career, and wishing you a very happy and well-deserved retirement! 🎖️🌺

That’s why blood drives like this are so important. Mahalo to IBEW 1186 for hosting this event and helping our community step up during this critical time.

Special mahalo to Mike from IBEW 1186 for helping facilitate the event, volunteer Sally Arakaki for giving her time, and Traci Traci Takehara - Donor Services Senior Recruiter 🤗 for helping spread the word and support outreach efforts.
