It was my first time attending A Day in Portugal – Festa at Damien Memorial School, and it was a wonderful experience celebrating Hawaiʻi’s vibrant Portuguese community. Portuguese Culture & Historical Center

Hawaiʻi is truly a melting pot, where we celebrate the many cultures that make our islands so special. Portuguese immigrants have made lasting contributions through agriculture, ranching, music—including introducing the ʻukulele—and beloved local favorites like malasadas and Portuguese bean soup.

Mahalo to the organizers and everyone who continues to preserve and share this rich heritage with our community. 🇵🇹🌺

This photo brought me so much joy. 💛 Connecting my community to the Hawaiʻi State Capitol is one of the most meaningful parts of serving as your State Representative. Government should be accessible, welcoming, and truly belong to the people. I hope every visitor leaves knowing this building is their Capitol and that their voice matters. 🌺🏛️

Gun Law Change: A person with a valid Hawaiʻi concealed carry permit may carry a firearm into most private businesses open to the public, unless the business has a “No Firearms” policy or sign.

Private business owners still have the right to prohibit fi****ms on their property. If a business posts or communicates a “No Firearms” rule, everyone must follow it.

On June 25, 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court changed one of Hawaiʻi’s gun laws.
