💸 Joy is a lovely word. Until it shows up on your tax bill.

💲 Sen. Joy San Buenaventura voted yes on the 2025 green fee that raised the hotel tax and added cruise ships to it.
💲 She voted aye in committee to raise the cigarette tax from 16 to 18 cents a stick.
💲 This year she voted yes on SB 3125, the income tax bill that ended up with a new 13% top bracket. Different taxes, same answer.

It is tax-increment financing that diverts future property-tax growth, allows nearly unlimited “housing and community development” spending, hides obligations, subsidizes developers, and sets a dangerous precedent for more debt-limit carve-outs.

LPHI adopts new bylaws and platform at the 2026 Special Convention 🎉

On September 12, 2026, the Libertarian Party of Hawaii adopted a complete revision of its bylaws and a new party platform at a special convention held in Hilo, Hawaii. The bylaws passed 11 to 1 with one abstention, above the 10 votes needed for two-thirds. The platform passed unanimously.
