A HUGE mahalo to our amazing volunteers from BYU–Hawaiʻi especially students from the Niue Club .niuean.club and Investment Club .byuh, along with incredible volunteers, who brought their helping hands and caring hearts to our HUGS Memorial Garden at this past weekend.

Our Memorial Garden is a very special place. Each tree was planted in memory of a HUGS child, and caring for these trees is so much more than simply maintaining a garden. It is about remembering a life, honoring a child, and letting their families know that their child will never be forgotten.

Our volunteers worked hard tending to the trees and caring for the garden so it continues to be a beautiful place of love, remembrance, healing, and hope for our HUGS families.

We are especially excited and grateful for our growing partnership with . This day was just the beginning, and we look forward to exploring even more ways their students can share their hearts, talents, and service in support of our HUGS children and families.

To ALL of our volunteers—thank you for your help, your heart, and for remembering the precious lives of our HUGS kids.

We're excited to introduce our second new JABSOM intern for the fall, please say hello to Cielo.

"Hi! My name is Cielo, and I was born and raised in Waipahu, Hawaiʻi. I graduated from Waipahu High School and later attended the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa , where I majored in Biology and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. I am currently a first-year medical student at the John A. Burns School of Medicine.

Outside of school, I enjoy arts and crafts, journaling, watching sunsets and sunrises, and exploring different coffee and matcha cafés! I am looking forward to being a student intern with HUGS because I hope to support children and their families during difficult times and be a warm, comforting companion for them throughout my time at HUGS."

Our HUGS Dads braved the rain and filled the room at for our Dad's Night for a night of pizza, laughs, good conversation, and connection.

One of our new dads summed it up perfectly: “I’m glad I made it, and I had a really good time getting to know the dads.”

We love hearing moments like this because they remind us how important it is for our HUGS Dads to have a space where they can feel welcomed, understood, and connected.

A very special mahalo to Kristen and the entire J. Dolans Kahala team for taking such wonderful care of our HUGS Dads. Your warm hospitality, delicious food, and attentiveness helped make the evening extra special.

Back to school shopping with !

Four of our HUGS Families were hosted by UNIQLO Hawaii this morning to shop for a back to school outfit for their family. UNIQLO Hawaii also hosts our families for Holiday Shopping event in December.

With just around the corner, HUGS was lucky to have help from our friends from who spent their sorting our toys and prepared over a hundred Christmas boxes for our neighbor island families. Very big mahalo the the Hawaiian Telcom team as well as our interns for being our Santa's helpers!

We are excited to introduce our new JABSOM interns for the fall.

Please meet one of our interns, Kaz.

"My name is Kaz and I was born and raised in Aiea and graduated from . For my undergraduate studies, I attended where I received my Bachelors degree in Biology. I then came back home to receive my Masters in Public Health degree at . Currently, I am in my first year at JABSOM!

I enjoy playing all kinds of sports and going to the beach. I am looking forward to being a student intern with HUGS and the different experiences that I will encounter. I actually used to be a HUGS volunteer at respite events, so it is very fulfilling to come back in a different role. I have had nothing but amazing connections with the HUGS staff and families, and can't wait to jump back into interacting and supporting the keiki."
