Prepare now for Tropical Storm Nolo, as heavy rain becomes more likely by Thursday and Friday. Periods of heavy rain are likely to continue across Hawaii Island and Maui through the weekend. Life-threatening, catastrophic flooding and mudslides are possible, especially in areas of steep terrain across both these islands.
Large and damaging waves are possible along the coastal areas of the Big Island into the weekend.
Residents -especially on Hawaii Island and Maui - should review 'ohana emergency plans, restock essential supplies, protect property from flooding and damaging winds, and prepare for power outages. Hawal' Island residents, particularly those in southeast areas, should be ready to relocate to safer shelter if needed.
Stay away from flood-prone areas, never enter floodwaters, and monitor official alerts as conditions may change. Don't wait - prepare early. Sign up for local emergency alerts by visiting ready.hawaii.gov/alerts
