RESUMING THEBUS

The City will resume service mid-morning Sunday, 8/16/2026 following the Saturday suspension of service due to the effects of Tropical Storm Lala.

Service restoration will commence at 8:00 a.m. and will require two hours or more for implementation.

We thank everyone for their patience as we work to restore TheBus service and work towards operating our full Sunday schedule, however, due to ongoing weather conditions and workforce availability, TheBus riders may experience missing scheduled trips through Sunday.

Skyline and Handi-Van services will operate their regular service, however, please allow extra travel time due to any weather or safety-related service delays and exercise extreme caution if driving.

Travel with caution, and mahalo for riding with us.

Mahalo to the Mortgage Bankers Association of Hawaii for the opportunity to participate in this year’s MBAH Annual Conference.

DHLM Director Kevin Auger and Housing Policy Director Gavin Thornton shared updates on the City’s housing strategy, including recent progress delivering affordable housing, leveraging public lands, and advancing policies that support housing production across Oʻahu. Their presentation highlighted the City’s housing policy framework and long-range strategy, focused on building a housing system that helps Oʻahu residents remain rooted in Hawaiʻi, with stable homes in healthy, vibrant, and connected communities.

We appreciate MBAH’s continued partnership and the important role lenders, developers, and housing professionals play in helping create more housing opportunities for local families.

Mahalo to the Honolulu Youth Commission for the opportunity to talk story about housing and the future of our community.

Last night, June 16, Housing Policy Advisor Anna Kim joined commissioners and youth leaders at Pali Golf Course to share an overview of the City and County of Honolulu Department of Housing and Land Management's housing policy strategy, including ongoing efforts to increase affordable housing opportunities, and support the development of complete communities across Oʻahu.

We appreciate the thoughtful questions and engagement from the commissioners. The next generation of leaders plays an important role in shaping Honolulu's future, and we're grateful for the chance to be part of the conversation.

New conservation signage was installed today at Kahuku Golf Course to help raise awareness about the important native species and coastal habitat found along this unique stretch of Oʻahu’s North Shore. 🌊🐦

The 114-acre City-owned property is home to one of the largest known ʻuaʻu kani (wedge-tailed shearwater) colonies on Oʻahu, as well as mōlī (Laysan albatross), honu, nalo meli maoli, and occasional sightings of the endangered ʻīlioholoikauaua (Hawaiian monk seal).

The signage supports ongoing stewardship and conservation efforts while helping educate visitors about the ecological significance of the area and the importance of respectful recreation.

Mālama ʻĀina in action 🌱

Mahalo to the community members, partners, and volunteers who joined us today at Hāwea Heiau and Keawāwa Wetland for a day of restoration and stewardship. Together, we removed invasive species, planted native vegetation, and helped care for a wahi pana with deep cultural and environmental significance.

This effort was made possible through partnerships with Livable Hawaii Kai Hui, , and City agencies including the Honolulu Office of Climate Change, Sustainability and Resiliency (CCSR), Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), .honolulu(OER), and the Department of the Corporation Counsel (COR).

Through the Clean Water and Natural Lands Program, we’re not just preserving land—we’re strengthening the connection between people, place, and ʻike kūpuna.
