Community Works in 96744

Community Works in 96744 We work to make 96744 safe & healthy by preventing underage drinking. Our vision is a healthy 96744 community with empowered families.

Community Works in 96744 (CWC 96744) is a community coalition focused on preventing underage drinking in Kaneohe. In service to that vision, our mission is to prevent underage drinking, strengthen community collaboration, improve the overall health of the community and strengthen families. Coalition meetings are held once a month, on the second Wednesday from 9 - 11 a.m. Meetings are either in per

son or via Zoom. Meetings often include discussions on:
* preventing underage drinking
* strengthening community collaboration
* educating and informing the community about underage drinking related issues
* working with youth to create peer-to-peer messaging
* other prevention related topics

Throughout the year, the coalition hosts guest speakers who are subject matter experts on a variety of things that put youth at risk of using or prevent them from using alcohol before 21. To learn more about CWC 96744, attend a meeting or a guest speaker presentation or a community event, email [email protected] or call 808-235-7747.

Having our families, especially our youth, involved in healthy activities is one of the best ways for us to prevent underage drinking.

This Fall, CWC 96744’s coalition members at the Kaneohe Complex of are offering a variety of programs and activities to support the health, safety, and wellbeing of our community.

These activities provide youth with an opportunity to participate and practice healthy stress relieving activities, and have access to positive role models and mentors, which are important pieces of the prevention puzzles.

Mahalo nui loa to Rep. Kitagawa and Rep. Matayoshi for coordinating the annual Castle Complex School Supply Drive!

This year more than $7,000 in monetary donations and a good amount of school supplies was collected. The donated supplies will help over 500 youth have the tools that will help them have a successful school year.

Because academic success is an important piece of the underage drinking prevention puzzle, CWC 96744 is proud to be a partner in this annual event!

Repost
We just completed another successful Castle Complex School Supply Drive! Thanks to the generosity of the community, we can provide over 500 students in the Castle Complex with school supplies again this year. We are grateful that students in need will be able to start the school year off with the necessary supplies to help them learn and grow. Thank you also to the 30+ volunteers who put in over 80 hours of service staffing our donation table at Windward Mall and sorting/packing school supplies. We really couldn’t have done this without all of you!

Rep. Matayoshi and I would also like to send a HUGE THANK YOU out to our community partners for helping us to put on this event for the sixth year in a row. Thank you to the Castle Alumni/Community Association, Anchor Church, Kiwanis Club of Kāneʻohe, Rotary Club of Kāneʻohe, Windward Mall, Kamehameha Schools, Community Works in 96744, Koʻolaupoko Hawaiian Civic Club, and Windward Community College. Thank you 96744 for coming together to support our keiki!
