Attached is the annual 2026 poster from the NDEAM office. Feel free to download and bring to the sign waving event or make your own! Plan to bring your own water and sunscreen and lets make it an awesome day to celebrate Disability employment!

At the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Hawai'i we acknowledge the challenges faced over a lifetime, celebrate every minor victory and offer mahalos to everyone who supports--in any way possible (sometimes a simple smile can make the day)--people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities--seen and unseen.

Amazing Monday—We share director Laura Somers’ news about a new movie that promises to feature strength and optimism while living through challenges:

Hello,

Two actors living with cerebral palsy—Ana Sharp and Jordan Walker Ross (The Chosen)—star in Rise and Shine, opening nationwide at AMC theaters on October 23!

I’m the film’s director, Laura Somers. Inspired by a true story, the film follows Terri, a neurodiverse teenager with cerebral palsy who wants what so many teens want: to attend high school, make friends, and belong. Through life’s challenges, she and her mother, Janice, share an unwavering optimism.
We’d love your UCP community to join us opening weekend, October 23–25. Could you share the trailer and ticket link through your newsletter, social media, and family networks? The theatrical run may be limited, so opening weekend is the best time to come out and support the film.

“Fear, Self-doubt and the Things We Can’t Control:” This may be one of the most personal things that I have shared in a blog. I wrote the original piece 24 years ago when I was moving from Los Angeles to Honolulu. I added the second part this year and it was edited to include how fear and self-doubt pertain to people with disabilities. However, I believed 24 years ago and still believe that those two emotions are universal. My hope is that there will be something in there that everyone can relate to on some level. Please take a look!

Fear isn't always the enemy.

Sometimes, fear tells us to prepare, ask questions, and make a plan. Other times, it comes from uncertainty, self-doubt, or the things we simply can't control.

For people living with disabilities, those feelings can become especially complicated as they navigate changes in mobility, aging, independence, and the future.

This week on the My Life Without Limits blog, read how one person learned to recognize what we can control, accept what we cannot, and redefine what success looks like when life doesn't go according to plan.

His perspective offers a simple reminder: We don't always have to eliminate fear. Sometimes, we need to learn how to live alongside it.
