Location: Stream trail in Nuuanu Valley near the Nuuanu Reservoir
Length: 2 miles roundtrip
Type: Valley
Terrain: Some muddy sections; some scrambling over rocks; stream crossings
Skill Level: Novice to Intermediate (adequate for "hardy" children); pet friendly
Bring: Snacks to enjoy at the falls, water to drink, light jacket (in case of rain), sturdy shoes that can get wet

Depending on the conditions, we might first visit the Kaniakapupu Ruins of King Kamehameha III's summer home, negotiate a dense bamboo forest then walk past the Nuuanu Reservoir and finally, enter a mixed forest of native and alien trees on a stream trail that ends at the lovely 50-foot cascading Lulumahu Falls.

Please (if you haven't already) complete and sign the one-time waiver form attached at the bottom of this email and bring it with you (or you can scan and email us your signed waiver).

We will meet at the gravel parking lot at the top of Nuuanu Pali Drive. This is a very popular hike and parking can be limited so we recommend carpooling if you can.

Directions:
From downtown Honolulu, head north on Pali Hwy.

At the intersection of Pali Hwy and Nuuanu Pali Drive (the last stoplight heading north), veer right onto Nuuanu Pali Drive and proceed to the very top of Nuuanu Pali Drive. Park in the dirt/gravel lot or on the shoulder of the paved road. As always, secure valuables before leaving your car.

Look for the New Hope parking sign.

NHO hike this weekend: Friendship Garden lookout, then to helipad, and then to overlooking Kapaa quarry.
