The third week of the Trailblazer Travel Challenge is over, and together we’re making a huge impact! 🌱🌏

So far, you helped save over 100,700 lbs of carbon emissions from entering our atmosphere. That’s incredible!

Mahalo for reducing traffic congestion, decreasing our environmental impact, and creating a more sustainable future for Oʻahu! 🙌

Congratulations to the individuals and teams with the most recorded bike trips. Keep pedaling toward victory and inspiring all of us to get active! 🚴‍♀️

With the new University Fall semester starting next week, we wanted to provide students the option to get the school, without having to drive (and fight over a parking pass).

has dedicated stations for both the UH West Oʻahu and Leeward Community College campuses. Bring your bike, scooter, skateboard or whatever onboard!

Getting to UH Mānoa is also easy with the Skyline + U Line combo! Taking riders from the Āhua Lagoon Drive Station, onto a U Line, and straight onto the freeway, then to campus, via the H-1. The A Line also works! Taking riders from Āhua Station onto the A Line, through Chinatown, Downtown Honolulu, Ala Moana, McCully, and University Ave. Oh yeah, all UH Mānoa students have a U-PASS on your student ID, so might as well make use of it!

Need to park and ride combo? Students are reminded that the following park-and-rides are available at the following stations:

Keoneʻae UH West Oʻahu Station: 304 parking stalls
Honouliuli Hoʻopili Station: 344 parking stalls
Hālawa Aloha Stadium Station: 590 parking stalls
Kahauiki Kalihi Transit Center Station: 95 parking stalls

Park-and-Ride lots are available for transit riders and limited to no more than 24 hours. Drivers who wish to finish their commute by Skyline can use any one of these lots and return within 24 hours to pick-up their vehicle.

Live close to campus? Jump on a Biki! With plenty of Biki docking stations near and on campus, you won't have to worry about locking up your own bike!

We encourage residents to consider Skyline as part of their everyday travel, and as a dependable option when road conditions change unexpectedly.

Drivers, we ask that you include the extra travel time as part of your commute. Please drive SAFELY, with your 100% ATTENTION, and all of your ! Be considerate of everyone on the road, and expect there to be a lot of pedestrians, bicyclists and other cars on the roadways near schools.

In the meantime everyone, make sure you are up to date with the emergency notifications throughout the storm, download HNL Alert.

Admission Day is tomorrow (Friday, August 21)! It's another three day weekend, so here's what you need to know!

- TheBus will operate on a city holiday schedule.

- Skyline will operate on normal schedule, from 4 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

- Parking will be restricted in Lanikai over the three-day holiday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

- On-street parking will be free, except for the meters on Kalākaua Avenue along Queen Kapi‘olani Park, metered parking lots, and meters on specific Waikīkī streets.

While Friday is a scheduled City holiday, storm recovery and preparedness operations will continue across Oʻahu. City crews will remain in the field conducting cleanup and recovery work following Tropical Storm Lala, including clearing debris and addressing storm-related damage.

The City’s Honolulu Department of Emergency Management and other agencies will be closely monitoring another potential tropical disturbance in the Pacific that could affect the Hawaiian Islands in the coming days. The City will remain in close coordination with the National Weather Service and other partners as the system develops.

Residents are encouraged to use this time to restock emergency supplies depleted during Tropical Storm Lala, review their hurricane kits, and make sure their households are prepared should another storm threaten Oʻahu. Residents and visitors are also encouraged to download HNL Alert and continue monitoring official weather information and City updates.

Week two of the travel challenge is over and the race is on! 🏆✨

Mahalo nui, trailblazers! You’ve helped prevent over 65,000 lbs of carbon emissions from entering our atmosphere. When you avoid driving solo, you help fight traffic while saving gas, money, miles, and the environment. 🌏🌿

This week, we’re highlighting our high-stepping heroes with the most walking trips. Congratulations to the individuals, teams, and organizations on the leaderboard. We hope you continue to work your way up the ranks, one step at a time!

8-16-2026 Transit Update:

DTS encourages everyone to stay indoors and off the roads as hazardous conditions on the roadway still exist as City and State crews engage in post-storm cleanup activities.

If you must travel today, please drive with caution, , and respect for others on the road, especially our first responders and roadway maintenance workers. Treat all out-of-service traffic signals as an all-way stop. For the latest traffic advisories, please check HNL Alert for updates.

RESUMING THEBUS

The City will resume service mid-morning Sunday, 8/16/2026 following the Saturday suspension of service due to the effects of Tropical Storm Lala.

Service restoration will commence at 8:00 a.m. and will require two hours or more for implementation.

We thank everyone for their patience as we work to restore TheBus service and work towards operating our full Sunday schedule, however, due to ongoing weather conditions and workforce availability, TheBus riders may experience missing scheduled trips through Sunday.

Skyline and Handi-Van services will operate their regular service, however, please allow extra travel time due to any weather or safety-related service delays and exercise extreme caution if driving.

Travel with caution, and mahalo for riding with us.

Due to high winds and rain across Oʻahu, we will be temporarily suspending services to ensure the safety of passengers, operators, and the traveling public.

Strong winds, combined with periods of heavy rainfall, can create hazardous conditions that can impact transit operations, including roadways and passenger facilities. In addition, flooding and traffic congestion may further affect safe and reliable service. Our high-profile city buses are especially susceptible to strong, sustained winds and related storm gusts.

TheBus will suspend routes that are scheduled for 8:31 p.m. or later, system-wide, until further notice.

Any routes scheduled to depart at 8:30 p.m. or earlier will start their trip and continue to its scheduled end point.

Skyline remains operational until 10:30 p.m.

Handi-Van will continue normal operations.

TheBus services will remain suspended until weather conditions improve and it is safe to resume operations. The City will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates on when service will return to normal.

The public is urged to avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather, allow extra time for travel, and exercise extreme caution if driving. TheBus passengers should consider alternate arrangements for Saturday night into Sunday morning in the event service cannot be resumed.
