August was filled with music, meaningful connections, and plenty of smiles at Palolo Chinese Home!

Hawai‘i Humane Society 🐶 Residents enjoyed a special visit from the Hawaiʻi Humane Society, complete with adorable puppies! The visit offered residents the comfort and healing companionship that animals bring, followed by a fun game of bingo.

Barbershop Quartet 🎶 We were thrilled to welcome Pure Nerves, an a ca****la barbershop quartet affiliated with the Nā Leo Lani Chorus. Their beautiful harmonies and performance brought music, joy, and lots of smiles.

Nā Kūpuna Ko‘olau 🌺 Residents enjoyed a memorable performance by Nā Kūpuna Koʻolau, a group formed in 2002 to preserve and share Hawaiian culture through traditional hula and music. Their performance was a wonderful celebration of Hawaiʻi’s cultural traditions and a special experience for our residents.

Aloha United Way Rally ❤️ PCH was proud to attend Aloha United Way’s (AUW) annual campaign kickoff rally in downtown Honolulu, supporting AUW’s goal to raise $9 million for families across Hawaiʻi. This year’s campaign also provides urgent assistance to communities affected by Hurricane Lala, with nonprofits reporting immediate needs for food, hygiene supplies, and gas. We encourage our community to support AUW’s efforts and consider donating before the campaign concludes at the end of the year.

A very special moment was when our resident Dorothy Mau presented Senator Schatz with a lei. Senator Schatz also joined members of our Board and management team as we celebrated this incredible milestone together.
130 years of caring, community and connections. Mahalo, Senator Schatz, for celebrating with our Palolo ʻohana!
