Hūnānāniho, formerly Waimānalo Bay Beach Park (aka Sherwoods), will be reopening tomorrow, October 8, 2026, with the resumption of permitted camping at this beach park on Friday, October 16, 2026.

Hūnānāniho was closed since Hurricane Lowell to allow for tree maintenance crews to address fallen or dangerous trees and branches damaged from the storm.

This Friday, October 9 our online permitting system at camping.honolulu.gov will open for camping at Hūnānāniho during two periods: October 16 – 20 and October 23 – 27. This campsite offers five-day permitted camping experiences.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while this popular location was closed out of an abundance of caution. Take care and stay healthy.
