A message from Wayne County Veterans Affairs, Director:
There is part of a folk song that goes: “For everything there is a season, A time to sow and a time to Reap. A time to laugh and a time to cry”. This post includes all of those seasons!!
I have recently announced my retirement! My last official day of work will be 24 January 2025. It has been an honor to serve our Wayne County Veterans!! This job has taken me on a journey that I could not have imagined traveling four years ago! I have grown immensely as an individual and a Veteran because of it. I thank each Veteran and family member that I had the privilege of meeting! You will all be missed!!
Until my replacement has been found, the office will be open on Tuesday’s only. It will be staffed by a Veteran Service Officer from the DMVA.
Until we meet again – “Carry On”
Sincerely,
Vicki Wargo (Director 2021-2025)

On this most somber of days, let us give a special salute to Pennsylvania's very own Bloody Bucket Brigade! Their sacrifices have not been forgotten, nor have they been in vain. RIP

On June 6, 1944, Allied soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy, France which was chosen because of the range of air cover, and it was shortest distance from Great Britain.

A sincere THANK YOU!! to all who served, or are currently serving, and the families that stand behind them. Our nation...

Please be mindful, that to many Veterans, fireworks are more traumatic than bright and beautiful! Have a safe and happy July 4th holiday! Thank You!

Fireworks are used to celebrate many events, from holidays to music concerts and sports. Even though fireworks are meant to entertain us, it is not uncommon for the sounds, intense light or smells to cause distress. Those who have gone through a trauma that included explosions, gunfire, loud noises or fire may be more likely to find fireworks to be a reminder—a trigger or cue—of such past events.

Some examples of distress you may feel include:

- Strong reactions to the sound of fireworks (or ceremonial gun or cannon fire)
- Strong reactions to flashing lights common with fireworks
- Feeling numb or emotionally distant during celebrations

Learn tips to manage symptoms or host an event that is sensitive to those who are affected by fireworks.
