Wayne Conservation District

The Wayne Conservation District Board of Directors received an award for Leadership Excellence (Board Leadership) from the State conservation Commission (SCC) on August 6, 2026.

Throughout the District’s history, the Board of Directors has been an integral part of District operations. The support, knowledge, expertise, and understanding that the Board has shown the District team over the years is unmatched.

Currently, the seven full board members have a combined total of 136 years of service to the District’s board. Board members who attended the award ceremony included:
- Walter Garing, 41 years of service
- Paul Kowalczyk, 20 years of service
- Timothy Jaggars, 12 years of service
- Andrew Weist, 11 years of service
George Boudman Jr. was also in attendance and serves on the Board as an Associate Member.

Wayne Conservation District would like to thank the SCC for recognizing the Board’s outstanding performance in leadership. The team at the District can all agree that their Board is well-deserving of this honor.

Looking for something fun to do this fall? 👀🍂

Join District staff and our partners at Pike - Wayne Trout Unlimited for a FREE streamside program this September!

Through this program we will be:
🌳-Discussing how trees are part of a healthy stream.
🐛-Investigating the kinds of aquatic creatures that live there.
🎣-Demonstrating what those creatures have to do with stream recreation, like fishing!

Last Friday, we hosted a Soil Health Field Day at the Wayne County Farm! 🚜

Attendees learned about how multispectral imaging with drones is used to look at plant health, soil testing, soil biology, and about some common pasture plants. 🌱🔬🪏

A big thank you to Drone Deployment Services, LLC, Stroud Water Research Center, and Penn State Extension Wayne County for making this day such a successful learning experience for all!

Funding for this project was provided by a mini-grant from the PA Department of Environmental Protection.

Join us for our annual FREE Meadow Party at the Van Scott Nature Reserve on Saturday, September 19th!

The day will include live animals with A.N.A Critters, a monarch butterfly program, guided trail walks, wildlife and conservation-themed relay games, yoga, and water ice available for purchase from Nothing But Fruit.
