The Wayne County Commissioners and the Pennsylvania Natural Heritage Program (PNHP) invite you to a public meeting on the Wayne County Natural Heritage Inventory Update. The meeting will be held 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 24th in the Cafeteria of the Park Street Complex at 648 W Park St, Honesdale, PA 18431.

The PNHP collects information on unique plants, animals, and natural ecological communities throughout the state. Natural Heritage Inventories (NHI) showcase a county’s biodiversity by summarizing and presenting information on unique species and natural ecological communities.

Have you spotted the beautifully decorated barrels around town? 🔍

The WAYNE COUNTY ARTS ALLIANCE has 31 artist-painted rain barrels on display throughout Wayne County! 🎨

These rain barrels are not only amazing works of art, they're also a great way to conserve water at home.

Have you ever wondered what happens to all that blue boat wrap once spring comes? 🛥️

This year, Penn State Master Watershed Stewards of Wayne County, Lacawac Sanctuary Foundation staff, and District staff were able to help 1140 of these wraps (so far) get recycled instead of sent to the landfill. That's over 9,000 lbs of plastic! ♻️

A big thank you to Ultra-Poly, who sent a compactor truck with fantastic staff and is recycling the plastics!

A huge shout out to the local marinas who participated and helped make this effort a success: Sterling Marina, 1st Klas Marina, Seely's Marina, Lighthouse Harbor Marina, Driftwood Cove Marina, and Bakker Marine. 🌊

Yesterday, our Watershed Specialist volunteered at the Pennsylvania Envirothon and got to see our local Wayne County team compete in the state-level competition! 🤓📝

The Nature Ninjas competed against 62 other teams, one from almost every PA county! They did a great job representing Wayne County. 🎉

On May 20th Honesdale High School attended the PA State wide Envirothon contest and represented Wayne County with pride!

The team of:
Logan Lester, Luca Giordano, Mason Peterson, Cody Peterson and Kaleb Flick achieved impressive scores on their oral presentation and their understanding of current issues regarding non-point source pollution and watershed related topics.
