The members of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars set out to serve the veterans of this country and our communities in honor of the sacrifices and commitment of every man and woman who has served in uniform.

As many of you know, our old building on main street in honesdale had a fire yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with the new owner and our former tenants. Fortunately no one was injured. We thank the honesdale fire departments for their timely response in battling the blaze.
That building was our home for several decades. So even though we are no longer there, it holds a special place in our hearts.

Dear Commander Pepper ,
I’m personally reaching out to get some momentum going …
As you know, engaging new generations of veterans is a top priority for the VFW. They don’t want to stand around with their hands in their pockets … they want something to do — a meaningful way to engage with the VFW and their community.
So let’s give it to them.
The VFW Day of Service is perfect for this. I’m sure you’ve heard about — and maybe participated in — the campaign. The VFW Day of Service will do even more to highlight the ways America’s veterans continue to serve.
The inaugural VFW Day of Service kicks off the first Saturday in May (May 7), marking the start of veteran-led community service projects taking place throughout the month. It’s a great way to get some positive attention for your Post and the important work you do throughout the year.
Can I count on your Post to sign up and host an event during the month of May? Please, help lead the charge!

There will be a Veterans' Day Program on Thursday, November 11 at 11:00 am (1100) at Veterans' Park, Route 191, Honesdale, PA 18431. (Next door to the Borough Swimming Pool). Jim Bruck, Commander of American Legion Post 254, Honesdale will be in charge of the program (with help from our Post and Auxiliary). A lunch will follow the program at our Post. Pizza will be ordered from Elegante Family Restaurant & Pizzeria, Honesdale.

There will be a meeting on Tuesday Oct 19th at 6 PM for both the men and the Auxiliary to discuss all the bank information. Please attend, and the regular meeting will be Thursday at 7 PM . See you there.

We just want to thank everyone who came and supported us at our steak dinner tonight. It was great to be open again and to see everyone. Don't forget the breakfast is only a couple of weeks away so we hope to see you there for that. Keep checking in here on our page and we'll let you know when we have something else going on. The Honesdale American Legion Post 254 and the Honesdale Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 531
will be holding a Patriot Day Ceremony to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of
the Terrorist Attacks on September 11, 2001. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 6 pm (1800) in front of the Dimmock Building (across from Central Park and next door to the Wayne County Courthouse), in Honesdale.
