Homewood Police Foundation

Homewood Police Foundation We are a 501 C 3 organization, so all donations are tax deductible.

The Homewood Police Foundation's raises funds for the Homewood Police Department, including its community programs, training, equipment, and the needs and welfare of its officers. The idea for the Homewood Police Foundation grew out of a deep respect and appreciation we all shared for what our officers do every day. We recognized there needed to be a way for both corporate and private citizens to

have an active role in supporting the men and women who protect and serve our community — from helping with education programs and events to providing extended training these officers need to meet our world's ever-changing law enforcement challenges. This not only helps foster a stronger partnership between the department and the community, it also creates a positive environment that attracts the best and brightest in the future. We established an Advisory Board, consisting of the Chief of Police, the Superintendent of Homewood City Schools, The Mayor of Homewood, a State Senator, Chief Municipal Judge and the Chamber of Commerce President. The Homewood Police Foundation's purpose is to raise funds for the Homewood Police Department, including its community programs, training, equipment needs and benevolence funds. We also endeavor to work with other foundations and community groups to ensure officers throughout Alabama receive the support they need. The Foundation is not meant to replace the yearly budget allotted to the department, but to supplement those efforts when an unexpected need arises. The organization is also committed to raising awareness among the community of what the Homewood Police Department does and strengthen the relationship between citizens and officers. Programs and events we already support include, The K9 Program, National Night Out, Training, raising funds for equipment, Benevolence Fund, Needs for Injured Officers, Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, and any unexpected financial need we are asked to help secure.

Nothing gets our kids school day off to a great start like the dedicated Homewood Officers who serve our students. And nothing gets their day off to a great start like chicken biscuits from Chick-fil-A Wildwood Centre! The Homewood Police Foundation Board stopped by with breakfast on Thursday to say thank you for all these officers do to keep Homewood kids safe, from the SROs to those directing traffic. It’s just one of the many ways we support our HPD family.

Thank you to The Valley Hotel for hosting our Coffee with the Cops yesterday morning. Officers, Foundation Board members, and citizens enjoyed coffee and pastries on the patio and a time of fellowship. Chief Tim Ross gave updates on the latest news from the department and Foundation President Paul DeMarco talked about what we do and upcoming events the rest of the year. We appreciate everyone who came out to support Homewood PD and its officers.

Thanks to Tim Hontzas (Johnny’s) for preparing and donating delicious meals for their lunch.

On Tuesday Chief Ross spoke at the Homewood Chamber of Commerce’s State of the City meeting, presenting the department’s achievements for the year and the Homewood Police Officer of the Year, K9 Officer Jordan Suggs. He and K9 Vulcan have served the City admirably and risk themselves every day. He was joined by his beautiful wife and parents who have been invaluable in their support. And yes, K9 Vulcan got a rousing round of applause as well.

Thank you to everyone who came for breakfast this morning at the Homewood Police Department, especially our youngest attendee who chose to celebrate his 5th birthday with us! The joy on his face made these officers’ day! And ours, too! Thank you to City Prosecutor Lee Barnes for sponsoring and to Edgar’s Bakery for providing the pastries. It was great to see so many from our community! We are thankful for you.
