Are you interested in learning how to help your community during emergencies? 🚨

The Homewood Fire Department is partnering with Jefferson County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Catholic Social Services to offer training in Homewood!

CERT classes teach volunteers valuable emergency preparedness and disaster response skills including:
- Fire safety
- Light search and rescue
- Basic disaster medical operations
- Team organization and response

These classes are designed to help residents become better prepared to assist their families, neighbors, and community when emergencies happen and first responders may be delayed.

Classes begin Saturday, June 20
Saturdays from 8 AM – 12 PM
Class duration is approximately 6 weeks

Classes are held at Catholic Social Services - 92 Oxmoor Rd #51792, Birmingham, AL 35209

*Must be 14 years or older to participate.

Today, the City of Homewood hosted the Memorial Day Murph workout at Homewood Fire Station One as we honored and remembered the men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

Thank you to Jennifer Andress, Mayor of Homewood for her leadership and support of this event, and a special thank you to Lieutenant Erbrick for coordinating the logistics and helping make the event a success.

It was great to see our community come together to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day while pushing ourselves through a workout built to honor sacrifice and service.

Today we remember and honor the brave heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.Thank you. 🇺🇸

Join Mayor Andress this Memorial Day at Fire Station No. 1 for a community Murph workout honoring the heroes who gave everything in service to our country.

💪 All fitness levels are welcome, and the workout can be scaled to fit your comfort level.

Whether you’re completing the full Murph WOD or modifying the workout, we invite the community to come together for a meaningful Memorial Day tradition.

Congratulations to Homewood firefighter Antonio Peralta on graduating from recruit school!

This is a huge accomplishment and marks the beginning of an exciting career in the fire service. Recruit school takes dedication, discipline, and a willingness to push through challenges, and Antonio has done exactly that.

We are proud to have him as part of the Homewood Fire Department family and look forward to watching him continue to grow and serve our community. Please join me in congratulating Antonio on this milestone achievement!
