The drying trend will continue through at least the end of the month across the Four State Region. Thus, the wildfire threat will increase as well. Look for additional counties and parishes to be added to this Burn Ban map through the end of the month.

‼️Burn Ban Reminder‼️

The Homer Fire Department would like to remind all residents that the burn ban is still in effect.

Due to ongoing dry conditions and low humidity levels, the risk of fires spreading rapidly remains high. Homer Fire Department along with other Claiborne Parish fire departments have responded to an increase of fires over the past few weeks, and we need everyone’s help to prevent more.

No outdoor burning is allowed at this time.
Please avoid activities that could cause a fire.
Help us protect our community, homes, and first responders.

📢 Please share this post to help spread the word, as many still are not aware of the burn ban.

Thank you!

Just a friendly reminder to everyone in our community that the burn ban is still in effect.

Our crews have already responded to a woods fire today, and conditions remain very dry with low humidity levels. It doesn’t take much for a small fire to get out of control and put lives, property, and our firefighters at risk.

Please avoid any outdoor burning until the ban is lifted, and help us out by spreading the word to your family, friends, and neighbors.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping keep our community safe.

The Homer Fire Department would like to inform all residents that a parish-wide burn ban is now in effect.

In accordance with the official order issued by the Claiborne Parish Police Jury:

CEASE AND DESIST ORDER
Parish-Wide Burn Ban Effective March 20, 2026 at 8:00 am

WHEREAS, the Parish of Claiborne, Towns of Claiborne Parish and Villages, therein, have been threatened with a severe drought due to lack of rainfall, causing an extreme hazard to life and property.

WHEREAS, All Claiborne Parish Fire District Fire Chiefs agree that there is extreme threat of wildfire and/or structure fire which place lives and property of Claiborne Parish in danger, as well as our first responder personnel and equipment being lost;

And request that a Burn Ban be in effect for ALL of Claiborne Parish, including Towns and Villages beginning March 20, 2026 at 8:00 am and remain in effect until conditions improve and notice of Rescinded Order is given by all Claiborne Parish Fire Districts; and

WHEREAS, the burn ban shall prohibit all outdoor burning such as, campfires, trash fires, and any other open burning. This declaration SHALL NOT apply to prescribed burns by the La. Department of Agriculture and Forestry, UNLESS, the declaration is made by their agency.

A STATE OF EMERGENCY does exist within Claiborne Parish, Towns and Villages, thereof, and that the Emergency Preparedness/Emergency Operations Plan be activated and in effect immediately”

Due to the current drought conditions and elevated fire danger, ALL outdoor burning is strictly prohibited at this time. This includes trash burning, campfires, and any other open flames.

These conditions create a serious risk to homes, property, and emergency responders. We ask for everyone’s full cooperation to help prevent wildfires and protect our community.

Violations of the burn ban may result in fines and legal action.

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as they become available.

Stay safe,
Homer Fire Department
