Scam Alert! We are sharing the newest scam techniques being used by scammers in an effort to prevent you from becoming a victim. Cortland County has been made aware of an invoice scam currently targeting County residents. The scammers appear to be using publicly available information from Planning Board applications to make the invoices appear legitimate. Pictured is a redacted fraudulent invoice).

Please share this post so that if anyone receives an unexpected invoice or payment request, verify it before making a payment. DO NOT use the phone number, email address, or payment instructions provided on the invoice. Instead, visit the official Cortland County website and contact the appropriate County department directly using the contact information listed. Although the invoice contains accurate personal or property information does not mean that it is legitimate. Thanks!

We received an unlawful dumping complaint at the village compost site. It is apparent that someone confused the compost site with the landfill. We are in the process of reviewing the security cameras to determine the person responsible. Just a reminder, the compost is for yard waste such as grass, leaves and branches, and it is not for garbage. There is a garbage can just outside the compost site for garbage, please put garbage in that. Thanks.

Another great Brockway Parade and Truck Show is in the books! Hopefully everyone enjoyed the parade and truck show today. We were told that there were over 150 trucks that participated this year.
