WestMass ElderCare has a strong network of relationships with local and statewide organizations working to assist elders and persons with disabilities to maintain independence at home, and to advocate for increases in funding and services.
WestMass ElderCare contracts with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs to provide a variety of state and federally funded programs, the largest being the Home Care Program and the Nutrition Program. In turn, WMEC contracts with more than 40 service provider agencies for personal care homemaking, chore service, adult day health, personal emergency response, and other services which assist individuals to remain at home.
As a member of the Massachusetts Home Care Association, WestMass ElderCare works with other ASAPs statewide to advocate with state and federal legislators for more public funding and programs to better serve the elders and disabled individuals in the community.
WestMass ElderCare involves community members through its Board of Directors, Citizens Advisory Council, Money Management Advisory Council, and Nutrition Program Advisory Council. These groups advise and comment on issues affecting elders and persons with disabilities in our service area.
