This holiday season The Holtville Fire Department had the honor in providing a little happiness to others by organizing several events. We started the season with Fire Staff standing on the intersection of 5th Street and Holt Avenue, for the “fill-a-boot for shoes” drive. During this event, we were able to raise enough funds to purchase 73 pairs of tennis shoes which were donated to the Holtville school kids.
On Saturday December 10, along with the Holtville Car Club, Santa drove around town on top of a fire truck bringing early Christmas cheer to kids and adults; Santa took the time to take pictures with the kids as the Car Club passed out candies. On December 16, we assisted the Holtville Based ICSO deputies in landing Santa at the schools. Santa greeted the kids then made his way back to the North Pole. On the same day, the Holtville Fire Department held the 13th Annual “Jonny B the EMT” Guardian Angel Event. Thirty- five Holtville school students were picked at random, and each received a $100 card.
None of these events would be possible without the support of the City of Holtville, City Council, local businesses, The Jonny B Family, Verde 4H, the great citizens of Holtville, and many others. Every year the community comes out in support of these great events, allowing the Fire Department to provide a little cheer and smiles to our young residents.
