Earlier this week, our amazing 4th graders brought history to life during their Living Museum! Students researched influential people who made an impact on Florida’s history, then transformed into those historical figures by dressing up and presenting speeches about their lives and accomplishments.

From inventors to explorers and leaders, each student did an incredible job sharing their knowledge, creativity, and hard work. We are so proud of the confidence and dedication they showed throughout this project. Thank you to our teachers and families for helping make this experience such a success!

This afternoon, we honored the retirements of five amazing women who together represent 157 years devoted to children!! 👏🏼🩷 We celebrated Rhea Skaggs, Julie Gramman, Sandy Fisher, Regina Fallgren, and Pidge Barreda — educators whose impact will be felt for generations to come.

We gathered together in our original auditorium with family members, present staff members, friends and former staff members as we shared stories, laughter, and memories while honoring each of these incredible women.

Today, we honor and celebrate the incredible women who have helped shape the heart of Anna Maria Elementary. 💙

With over 100 combined years in education, our retirees have left a legacy far beyond the classroom walls. Through their love, dedication, wisdom, and countless moments of encouragement, they have impacted generations of students, families, and staff members.

Their fingerprints will forever remain on AME, and while the tides may change, the difference they made will never be forgotten. Thank you for the laughter, the lessons, the memories, and the unwavering love you poured into our Dolphin family.

Once a Dolphin, always a Dolphin. 🐬

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

In observance of Memorial Day, all schools and district worksites will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026.

We wish our families a safe and meaningful Memorial Day as we reflect on and remember our nation’s fallen heroes.

Retiree Spotlight: Mrs. Barreda 🌟

Today we are celebrating Mrs. Barreda and her incredible 30 years in education at Anna Maria Elementary! 💙🐬

One of her most meaningful memories was hearing from a former student who was now graduating that wrote her a note that said, “Thank you for believing in me when nobody else did”. ❤️
Moments like these reminded her why teaching mattered so much, and she always loved when former students would come back to visit her through the years.

In retirement, Mrs. Barreda is looking forward to traveling, spending time with her six grandsons, watercolor painting, and playing the guitar.

What will she miss most about AME?
“The small interactions you have daily with everybody — talking about life and sharing advice.” ☀️

Her advice to students and staff:
“Be kind. Be kind to each other and be kind to yourself. Every day is a fresh start. Every day you have the opportunity to wake up and begin again — let yesterday go.”

Thank you, Mrs. Barreda, for the love, encouragement, and kindness you have shared with generations of students and families. Your impact will continue to ripple through AME for years to come.
