🎓 Celebrating AP achievement at Holmen High School!
We’re proud to recognize 53 Holmen High School students who earned AP Scholar honors in 2026 for their performance on Advanced Placement exams.

These College Board distinctions recognize students who demonstrated success across multiple AP exams:

🏅 31 AP Scholars — earned scores of 3 or higher on at least three AP exams.

🏅 13 AP Scholars with Honor — earned an average score of at least 3.25 across all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on at least four exams.

🏅 9 AP Scholars with Distinction — earned an average score of at least 3.5 across all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on at least five exams.

AP courses challenge students with college-level coursework while they’re still in high school, making these recognitions a reflection of the time, preparation and commitment our students have put into their academics.

Congratulations to all 53 AP Scholars on this outstanding accomplishment, and thank you to the teachers, staff and families who continue to support our students as they challenge themselves and pursue academic success.

🎓 Two Holmen High School students have earned one of the nation’s most prestigious academic recognitions!

For Isabel Wang and Matthew Gamoke, years of challenging coursework, studying, learning and pushing themselves academically have led to an incredible milestone: both have been named Semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program!

Each year, students across the country enter the National Merit Scholarship Program through the qualifying test. From that group, just over 16,000 high school seniors nationwide are selected as Semifinalists. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recognizes these students for demonstrating exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

And this isn't the end of the journey.

As Semifinalists, Isabel and Matthew now have the opportunity to advance to the Finalist level and compete for approximately 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $24 million that will be awarded next spring. About 95% of Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing.

While the National Merit recognition is a tremendous accomplishment on its own, it also represents something much bigger than a test score. It reflects the work Isabel and Matthew have put into their education throughout their time at Holmen — taking on rigorous coursework, challenging themselves and consistently striving for academic excellence.

Now, their names join a select group of students from across the country being recognized for that commitment.

We couldn't be more excited to celebrate Isabel and Matthew and everything they have accomplished to reach this point. Please join us in congratulating these two Vikings on an outstanding and well-earned academic achievement! 👏🎉

🎶 SHOW CHOIR SEASON IS TAKING SHAPE! 💃🕺

Consider this training camp for show choir.

Our Holmen High School show choir students have been putting in some serious work this week at Choreography Camp — learning new choreography, perfecting every move and dancing nonstop as they begin bringing this year’s competition show to life!

And when we say they’re putting in the hours, we mean it. Some nights they're rehearsing for six hours, and Saturday they'll cap off the week with a 12-hour day. 😳

It’s a lot of work, a lot of repetition and a whole lot of energy — all for a competition season that doesn’t even officially begin until January!

But you won’t have to wait that long to see them perform. 👀

Their first preview performance is Heritage Night at La Crosse Central on Wednesday, October 7 at 7 p.m., where varsity show choirs from around the area will preview portions of their competition shows. Admission is FREE!

Then, mark your calendars for Lunch with the Stars 2026 on Saturday, December 5, at the HHS Fine Arts Center! 🌟 The home preview will feature HHS Show Choir alongside Holmen Middle School’s Midwest Connection, with the performance beginning at 11 a.m.

For now, it’s back to work. Keep dancing, Vikings! 🎶

Between the raindrops today, Holmen Girls Golf hit the course at Drugan’s for a Mississippi Valley Conference match — and turned in their best team score of the season!

The Vikings finished 2nd overall with a team score of 358, led by Emily Napiecek, who placed 3rd individually with an 83!

📝 Parts of speech were on the move in 8th grade ELA!

Students spent class rotating through different stations around the room, each with a new challenge focused on identifying and using the different parts of speech.

From nouns and verbs to adjectives, adverbs, pronouns and more, students are reviewing how words function within a sentence and how the different pieces work together to communicate a clear idea. The stations gave students a chance to apply what they know, work through examples and collaborate with classmates along the way.

A fun change of pace from a traditional review — and a great way to get students up, moving and thinking about how language works!

🎨🚗 Our seniors understood the assignment!

Over the summer, members of the Class of 2027 had the chance to claim a parking spot and make it their own for the school year — and boy oh boy, did they NOT disappoint!

The creativity, collaboration and talent on display in our parking lot is seriously impressive. From incredibly detailed artwork to clever designs and plenty of personality, we are absolutely blown away by what our students created.

And they might look even cooler from above! 👀

👮‍♂️ SRO Blair is making the rounds!

Our new School Resource Officer, Tyler Blair, has been busy getting around the District, visiting our schools and, most importantly, getting to know our students!

Today, he made a stop at Prairie View Elementary to visit with our 2nd graders. Students are currently learning about rights, responsibilities, laws, rules and community, so Officer Blair was the perfect guest!

He talked about his role in our schools, why rules and laws matter, the importance of showing up to school, and how one of the best parts of his job is simply being around our students, saying hi and building those connections.
