More on the Holland Bluff Bike Trail paving project:

In the fall of 2023, the Town of Holland applied for a grant from the DOT requesting funding assistance to pave the northern rural portion of the trail. The Town was awarded the grant in the spring of 2024 (80% federally funded). The project involves paving the existing crushed limestone multi-use trail, improving it to a 2-mile separated 8-foot wide shared-use trail running along a rural section of U.S. Highway 53. The application represented Phase 1 of the paving project and the Village of Holmen, which maintains the southern portion of the trail, will be responsible for Phase 2 of the project in the coming year. The trail will connect Town of Holland residents from the north end to the Village of Holmen and beyond!

Construction begins September 8th. The trail will be closed until its completion.

The long awaited paving of the Holland Bluff Bike Trail is set to start Tuesday, September 8th! Construction should be completed by Thanksgiving. The bike trail will be closed effective Sept 8th.

The Town of Holland will be hosting an informational meeting today, June 29th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 to provide information on a proposed new fire station. It is a general "open house" with presentations given at 5:30 pm and repeated at 7:00 pm at the Holland Town Hall. Spread the word, let your neighbors know and hope to see you there!

Mother’s Day Hike on Holland Sand Prairie
Sunday, May 10 – 2:00 p.m.
Location: Holland Sand Prairie near Holmen, WI
What better way to share part of the special day with mothers than on a prairie full of early blooming species! Because of the sandy soils, grasses have not greatly altered the density of low-growing species like pasqueflower, violets, and prairie smoke on this 61-acre sand prairie. Owned by the Town of Holland, with an easement with Mississippi Valley Conservancy, it is one of the properties The Prairie Enthusiasts help manage. Here's a link to the event:

WANTED: Town of Holland Part-Time Seasonal Crew member
The Town of Holland has an opening for a part-time seasonal crew worker. Duties include road work & repair, brush cutting and chipping, mowing, park maintenance and maintaining all equipment, trucks and machinery. A CDL is not required but could be used to continue as an “on call” winter employee. This seasonal position has an immediate start date and goes to November 1st.
