The Hollywood Reservoir will remain closed to the public through Monday, Sept. 14 and will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 15, out of an abundance of caution while LADWP gathers more information regarding possible wildlife activity in the area.
A deceased deer was found on Hollywood Reservoir property, and crews are cleaning the location. While there is concern that the deer’s death may be related to mountain lion activity, LADWP has reached out to the National Park Service and California Department of Fish and Wildlife for support and additional information before reopening the Hollywood Reservoir walking path.

09/09/2026

A Heat Advisory has been issued for the City of Los Angeles beginning Tuesday, September 8 through Wednesday, September 9 at 8:00 AM.

Beginning Wednesday, September 9 at 8:00 AM, the Heat Advisory will transition to an Extreme Heat Warning, which will remain in effect through Thursday, September 10 at 8:00 PM.

Forecasted temperatures are expected to reach 92-108 degrees. Humid conditions will add to heat risk. Heat will peak on Wednesday for most areas.

During this heat event, it is important to be proactive from heat exposure. As temperatures rise, the City of Los Angeles urges Angelenos to plan and prepare to avoid heat exhaustion in your communities and for yourself. Call 311 to identify the cooling facilities closest to you, or visit the Cool Spots LA App.

You can find an updated list of open cooling centers at this link: https://emergency.lacity.gov/heat

Keep cool by identifying and resting in shade or a building with air conditioning and drinking plenty of water. If you do not live in an air-conditioned building, visit a public library, recreation facility, senior center or other public air-conditioned building near you. Drink plenty of fluids, stay indoors or in the shade, stay in a cool area, and check up on relatives and neighbors, especially if they have pre-existing health conditions. Check on neighbors or others who may be sensitive to heat. Never leave young children, the elderly, or pets unattended in vehicles under any circumstances, for any length of time.

Take extra precautions if you work, exercise, or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. See images below for an explanation of signs and symptoms of Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the OSHA recommends frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments and to stay hydrated. Employers must provide access to sufficient water. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. If you suspect a heat stroke, this is an emergency! Call 911. Non-emergency information can be found by calling 311.
