Happy Municipal Clerk's Week to all of the wonderful town and city clerks across Jackson County and in our neighboring towns. Today we celebrate our own master clerk Susanne Thompson and assistant clerk Maggie Seals!

May 3 through May 9, 2026 is the 57th Annual Professional Municipal Clerks Week. Initiated in 1969 by IIMC and endorsed by all of its members throughout the United States, Canada and 15 other countries, the week is a time of celebration and reflection on the importance of the Clerk’s office. In 1984, President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation that officially declared Municipal Clerks Week the first full week of May. In 1994 and 1996, President Bill Clinton also signed proclamations confirming Municipal Clerks Week. (IIMC)

REMINDER:
It's that time of year again for yard work and upkeep. If you are a property owner and are looking for lawn care businesses, please ask them if they are licensed and insured for your own protection as well as theirs. Also, if you are doing lawn care services such as mowing other peoples property for money, be sure to purchase a business license first. You must, by law, have a county and town license before operating a lawn care business just as any other business. Failure to do so could result in a charge of privelege license violations.
