National Night Out 2026 in Texas will take place on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, as communities across the state traditionally celebrate on the first Tuesday in October.
Event Overview

• Date: Tuesday, October 6, 2026 (Many local block parties run during evening hours, typically between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM).
• Purpose: A nationwide community-building campaign designed to enhance relationships between neighbors and law enforcement, promote police-community partnerships, and build safer neighborhoods.
• Activities: Neighborhood block parties, cookouts, visits from local police officers and fire department personnel, demonstrations, and family-friendly displays

NEW: DPS’ Regulatory Services Division (RSD) is launching a new online platform for the state’s License to Carry (LTC) program. The new licensing platform – RSD Connect – is set to go live in less than a month.

There will be temporary pause in online LTC services as data is transferred over to the new RSD Connect platform. Customers have until Sept. 12 to submit new applications on the current platform, and until Sept. 14 to submit supporting documents for existing applications. LTC applications will resume on Oct. 1, 2026

🐾 SCOUT UPDATE: A huge milestone & a look ahead! 🐾

First and foremost, a massive thank you to everyone who has donated toward Scout’s veterinary care. Your generosity means the world to us! We also want to give a huge shout-out to the Hollywood Park Humane Society—their support has been absolutely tremendous.

The Medical Update:

Scout received his final heartworm injection this past Monday! While he is still finishing up several medications, his appetite and mood have improved immensely. He is incredibly loyal, loves rewarding his people with affection, and is an absolute dream on his walks. 🐶❤️

The Budget Reality:

As we hit the end of our fiscal budget year, our local funds are very limited for the next 30 days. The wonderful news is that City Council has approved extra resources for next year, so the long-term outlook for our boy is incredibly bright!

However, we still need to bridge the gap for his immediate, current care. If you are on the fence or able to contribute a little more, we would be deeply grateful for your support. It’s hard to ask, but Scout deserves to feel 100% better, and your donations make that possible.

Apple Screen Time (iPhones/iPads): Block adult websites, set daily time limits, and require your approval before kids download new apps.

Google Family Link (Android): Manage app downloads, set screen-time schedules, and track device location.

Social Media Safety Settings: Apps like Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat offer "Family Pairing" modes to restrict private messaging and filter explicit content.

2. Third-Party Monitoring Options Many families also use extra layers of protection:

Content Filters: Apps like Canopy scan screens in real time to block explicit images

Alert Monitors: Services like Bark or Qustodio flag danger signs like bullying, threats, and concerning messages.

Kid-Safe Starter Phones: Devices like Gabb or Pinwheel remove open web browsers and social media altogether.

Earlier this morning officers were called to a residence for a teenager in a mental health crisis. Our mental health officer responded and was able to conduct an emergency detention and took him to the emergency room.

Out of privacy for the family, we are not posting the address.

There is no threat to the community and our officers handled the situation appropriately.

🎓 ANOTHER FIRST FOR HOLLYWOOD PARK! 🎓

We were incredibly honored to host the FBI-LEEDA Media & Public Relations course right here at the Hollywood Park Police Department—marking the very first time our agency has hosted this prestigious training!

A massive congratulations to all 17 strategic communications professionals from across Texas, Alabama, Arizona, and Colorado who graduated this week.

We are especially proud of our own Detective Sergeant Travis Thornton, who not only completed the rigorous course but also served as the lead host to ensure our visiting partners had an exceptional week. Thank you, Detective Sergeant Thornton, for your outstanding commitment to sharpening our community relations!

🚨 Public Safety Alert: Confirmed Rabies Case 🚨

A raccoon near the 300 Block of Yosemite (Hollywood Park, TX) has tested positive for rabies. We believe it was contracted possibly by a rabid skunk.

No human exposure has been reported, but please take immediate precautions to keep your family and pets safe. I highly reccomend you educate your children to not provoke or go near wildlife. Especially if they appear sick.

🐾 Protect Your Household: Keep your distance: Avoid all contact with wild or stray animals. Do not attempt to approach or capture them.

Vaccinate your pets: Ensure all dogs, cats, and other pets are completely up to date on their rabies vaccinations. This is the best defense!

📞 Who to Call: If you see an animal acting strangely, or if a person/pet makes contact with wildlife, report it immediately.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude for UCPD in not giving up on this cold case. Justice is finally done and we pray the family finds some level of comfort knowing the case is now resolved. Good work!
