We are happy to welcome back Pheasants Forever on June 19th! A BB Gun trailer will be set up near the Big Seven Beach area on Friday, June 19th, from 1-5pm. All ages are welcome to come and learn marksmanship and gun safety for free! Recreation Passports are required to enter the park.

Picture this: you’re heading to your favorite state park for a sunny afternoon picnic. You put out the invite and before you know it, 40 of your closest friends are coming. Sounds fun, right? But here’s something many people don’t realize: You might need a Use Permit to legally host your event in the park.

“So…what is a Use Permit, and why would I need one?” A Use Permit is a quick form that helps us understand what you’re planning. It lets us make sure the park has the space, facilities, and staff needed to keep everything running smoothly for your group and for all the other visitors enjoying the park that day.

Generally, you’ll need a Use Permit for events like family reunions, birthday parties, weddings, races, and other gatherings. But, they’re also required for activities like placing a geocache, doing scientific research, commercial photography (yes, family and senior photos count!), selling goods, and more.

We are pleased to announce that C.A.S.T. for Kids will be back at Seven Lakes for their annual fishing event! The event will take place on Saturday, June 13th at the Big Seven Boat Launch. The boat launch will be closed to the public for this event which typically ends around 1-2pm. Please plan accordingly.

Please be aware that a controlled burn is planned for the Prairie Fields at the entrance of the park today. You will be seeing firefighting personnel and equipment on site. This should not affect your ability to enter the park, though we may have a temporary timeframe where access could be limited. Smoke will be visible in the area for the duration of the burn.

Memorial Day is here and the weather looks to be fantastic today!

While you are packing your picnics, swimsuits, and beach gear - please also remember to pack your patience. We are anticipating crowds today, so some important reminders to help you have a memorable and safe Memorial Day:

1. Leave the alcohol at home. It is not allowed at the beach or in the day use sections of the park. You can be cited and evicted for possession of alcohol. Same rules for ma*****na - leave it at home.
2. Leave the fireworks at home. Fireworks are not permitted anywhere in the park.
3. Parking is only allowed in designated areas. There is no roadside parking or parking in the grass.
4. If your vehicle does not have a valid registration, it cannot be sold a valid Recreation Passport and will be turned away at the entrance booth.
5. Having music at the beach is a great way to relax - keep the volume reasonable as you are not the only one wanting to enjoy the park today. Vulgar or explicit music will be handled accordingly.
6. We will do our best to get you into the park quickly, however we need to check all vehicles entering the park for Recreation Passports. Skipping the line is not permitted and is dangerous for others on the road.

Today is a day of remembrance and honoring those who fought for our freedom - take a moment to slow down, relax, and enjoy your day with us at Seven Lakes State Park.

We are happy to announce starting tomorrow May 23rd at 12pm, Simple Adventures is back operating the concession stand at the Big Seven Beach! Come see them for all your beach needs, boat rentals, souvenirs, food, ICE CREAM and more!
