** UPDATE ** 7:20 pm June 19 - the child has been located. Holly officers received a tip that the child may live at a home near where he was captured on camera.

Officers had been to the home 3 previous times during repeated canvassing, each time the parents denied it was their child. When confronted with new information, they admitted they did not want to get in trouble because their child had wandered off without their knowledge, and had returned home on his own.

Officers visually verified the 18 month old male child was safe and verified the clothing he was wearing in the video.

Officers are continuing their investigation with the family.

We thank the community and the media for sharing this story, which resulted in its closure. We also thank our law enforcement partners at the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office for the immediate response of a K9, drone and ultimately the helicopter to search ponds and wooded areas.

Thank you to the Holly officers who organized the searches, located and reviewed area camera recordings and responded to every tip.

Awesome Kids Alert -

School may be out, but opportunities to make a difference never take a summer vacation. This summer, Holly Police Officers are celebrating kids who go the extra mile with kindness, helpfulness, respect, and community spirit!

Whether it's helping a neighbor, picking up litter, showing respect, lending a hand, or simply being an outstanding young person in our community, Holly Police Officers are on the lookout. If you're "caught" doing something good, you might just receive one of our special Caught Doing Good citations—good for a FREE small 1-topping pizza courtesy of our friends at Hungry Howie's in Holly at 15183 N. Holly Rd. Holly MI (248) 328-1000.

So kids, consider yourselves warned: Acts of kindness will be noticed, and positive behavior may be rewarded.

Parents, keep an eye out. Officers are actively patrolling for smiles, good manners, community spirit, and random acts of awesomeness all summer long.

During National Police Week, we pause to honor the men and women who willingly step toward uncertainty so others may live in safety and peace.

Behind every badge is a person—a parent, spouse, friend, son, or daughter—who carries not only the weight of duty, but the quiet responsibility of protecting a community they call home. Their service is measured not only in emergencies and critical moments, but also in countless unseen acts of compassion, sacrifice, and dedication performed every day.

This week especially, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice and recognize all officers who continue to serve with courage, integrity, and commitment.

Academy Graduation Announcement

The Holly Police Department is proud to introduce our newest Reserve Police Officers, who graduated today from the Oakland Community College Reserve Police Academy.

These dedicated members of the Holly community committed their time and effort to complete the academy from January 15 through April 18, 2026. As Reserve Officers, they volunteer their time to enhance the safety and security of our community, providing an increased presence at local events, parades, and festivals. They also assist our full-time officers during patrols and play an important role during major incidents and emergencies.

Please join us in welcoming (from left to right):
Officer Trason Willemin, Officer Danielle Hernandez, and Officer Ryan Sutton.

Holly was proudly represented in the 2026-1 Academy class. Each of these officers distinguished themselves during training:

Officer Danielle Hernandez earned the Top Driver Award in the emergency driving course, setting a new academy record time.

Officer Ryan Sutton received the Top Gun Award for outstanding fi****ms marksmanship.

Officer Trason Willemin was selected by his peers as Class Vice President.

One of the most meaningful moments of the day was watching their chosen family members pin on their badges for the very first time—a powerful symbol of their commitment to serve.

Please join us in welcoming these officers to the Holly Police Department family. We are confident they will serve our community with pride, professionalism, and dedication.
