We Remember. We Honor. We Thank You.
Holly Springs Junior High School held a First Responders Breakfast Thursday morning, Sept. 10, in recognition of community heroes. “We gather today to remember, honor, and give thanks for the first responders who protect, serve, and care for our community each and every day,” said school nurse Kimberly Gandy, who emceed the program. “We appreciate your sacrifice, courage and steadfast commitment to serving our community.”
Junior high students offered remarks and led the group in prayer.
The program also included a moment of silence to remember the fallen, individual recognition of those first responders in attendance, a song by members of the Holly Springs Junior High School choir, and remarks from school, city and law enforcement leaders.
Principal Gefredia Nash gave closing remarks, and the event concluded with breakfast and fellowship.

Holly Springs Primary School has a new club – The Buddy Reading Club, sponsored by librarian Jeannie Brock.
The Buddy Reading Program, which launched on Wednesday, Sept. 2, promotes a peer reading experience with third graders paired with first and second graders. It brings students together to share the joy of reading while building confidence, fluency, leadership, and a love for books.
Students are paired with a reading buddy for special one-on-one reading time where they can read together, practice skills, encourage one another, and celebrate their progress.
“The goal of this club is for our Buddy Readers to learn that everyone has something to give and something to learn,” Brock said. “Older students have an opportunity to develop leadership, responsibility, patience, and mentoring skills, while younger students receive additional reading practice, encouragement, and positive peer support.”
The Buddy Reading Club will help create a school community where students learn to support one another, grow together, and discover that reading is even better with a friend.
