Holly Springs Parks & Recreation is in the design stage for the Womble Park improvements approved by voters in the 2023 Parks & Recreation bond. This includes two outdoor basketball courts for community play with LED lighting technology and the replacement of eight dugouts at the Womble Park baseball fields.

Town staff will be hosting a public meeting at the Hunt Recreation Center on Tuesday, September 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. to discuss the preliminary plans and answer questions about the project. To learn more, visit hollyspringsnc.gov/2727.

Walk, talk, and explore with fellow seniors on the trails and greenways of Holly Springs with Senior Treks. Each guided outing lasts 45 to 60 minutes at an easy pace, allowing time to enjoy conversation and seasonal sights such as birds and blooms. With a different path featured each session, this program offers a relaxed way to stay active, socialize, and connect with nature.

Join us for our next trek on Tuesday, September 15, from 10 to 11 a.m. Trekking poles and binoculars are available for added comfort and discovery. Meeting locations are emailed prior to each trek.

Join us for a shell-abration of all things turtle! Our three-part Turtle Talks nature series dives into the fascinating world of local turtles. From land-dwellers to pond paddlers, each session highlights a different topic: terrestrial turtles, semi-aquatic turtles, and how to help a turtle in need.

Attend one or all three! Whether you're a turtle enthusiast or just turtle-curious, this series offers a fun, informative look at these slow-moving but essential members of our ecosystem. Our first session is this Wednesday, September 9, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Bass Lake Park, as we talk about Terrestrial Turtles!

Planning for College? Get the tools and support you need with College Ready: A Hands-On Approach to Prep & Scholarships. This program will help guide students through every step of the college preparation and scholarship process.

Students will build an educational resume, explore scholarships, create a college matrix, and learn strategies for applications, essays, volunteering, and financial planning.

Students in 8th to 10th grade are encouraged to participate in one session per month, while students in 11th–12th grade are encouraged to attend two sessions per month to stay on track for college applications.

Join us on select Saturdays, September through December, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Hunt Recreation Center. Each student must provide their own laptop or Chromebook for use during the class.
