Mayor’s Update 2/16/2026

Unfortunately as we are trying to clean up from the 2026 Ice Storm, we are constantly receiving none storm related trouble reports.

Sunday we had a three phase pole top that broke on Hwy 72, as well as a tree falling on Rossville Rd breaking several poles, causing multiple outages.

Today one broken pole, on Rosaland Dr. off of E Boundary, and a fallen limb on the line on Hogan Rd, causing multiple outages.

Despite these additional challenges, be assured work is continuing to restore service to all HSUD customers.

If you are still without power, please call (662) 252-4652 and follow the prompts. Thank you for your patience, this has indeed been a challenge for us all.

Mayor’s Two Day Update

Today was a great day, restoring 200-350 meters between Friday and today.

For those of you who have been out for this amount of time, I know that it has been both frustrating and challenging for you.

This has been a crisis like most of us have never had to deal with before.

We are not up to 100% restored, but less than 100 meters are still out. If your power has not been restored and you don’t need an electrician please call dispatch (662) 252-4652 and follow the prompts.

Everyone who is without power, our goal is to have you back on line by tomorrow.

The crews and myself have been working long hours and are committed to getting everything back on line.

Let’s continue to keep each other lifted in prayer.

Mayor’s Two Day Update (2/12/26)

We are continuing to work in an aggressive manner trying to restore service to all of our rate payers.

Yesterday and today we restored service to approximately 200 meters.

We have a crew dedicated to restoring power as new outages occur.

A lot of what remains is in some rough terrain and can only be accessed by track equipment. Therefore, work has slowed. Crews are doing their best.

We do plan to continue working aggressively until all service is restored.

Dear Residents,

The Boil Water Notice previously issued for our water system has now been lifted. Recent testing confirms that the water meets all state and federal safety standards and is safe for normal use, including drinking, cooking, and bathing.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation while this precaution was in place.

Mayor’s Update 2/10/2026

Yesterday (Monday) was not a very good day getting meters back on line.

We did get lines and poles replaced in different areas of the district. But unfortunately not many lights were restored.

Today was a much better day. 200 + meters were put back on line today.

Hoover Rd, Murdock Rd, Lamar Rd, Hardaway Church Rd, Higdon Rd, Little Snow Creek are a few of the roads with meters restored. This is not an indication that 100% of those on the roads were restored.

We worked on other roads and will be back on them tomorrow.

Lacey Ivy, Lower Gurley you are not forgotten, there is a lot of work that has to be done.

Please continue to pray for our teams and all those that are without power.

Mayor’s Update (2/8/2026)

As we come to the close of another day, the teams have been working to get as many lights on as possible.

Today was a bit better than yesterday. Lunati Rd, Higdon Rd, Wilson Golden Rd, Hardaway Church Rd, Jeffries Rd and many others have received some lights.

I have received a lot of calls from quite a few of you and I want to say I can appreciate your attitudes considering the situation you are in.

I want to assure you all that no one’s service is more important than the other.

Work on Lacey Ivy Rd has begun. We are having to clear the right of way before the line crews can come in and replace poles. We are continuing to gain ground on Liberty Rd.

When I speak of clearing right of way, I am talking about fallen trees outside of the customary right of way.

Please continue praying for our teams and each other’s families.

Thank you for your continued patience.
