We are Bridge Builders. We are warriors. We are The Force Beside the Blue.

Our story

From the ashes rises the phoenix.

Our organization was found among the flames coming from the streets of Atlanta during a public safety crisis following the death of a citizen. Atlanta Police officers felt unsupported to do their jobs by their government officials and unprotected by the laws meant to do just that. As families of police officers, we sought each other for comfort, support, strength and action. Supported by blue line families across the nation, and the National Police Wives Association, The Force Beside the Blue delivered more than 1700 goodies bags to inner city officers as part of Operation Morale Boost and fought to have our voices heard with Call to Action: ENOUGH. Most recently, we have also partnered with Atlanta Police Athletics League (PAL) on several outreach programs for inner city children.

Now, we are striving to make a difference in the communities that our officers serve across the state thru outreach programs that build bridges between police and their communities. Next steps include building a mental health network to provide much needed counseling resources to officers and their families and continued work in the political arena to support pro-police legislation.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE

Atlanta PAL is a nonprofit charitable 501c(3) organization established in 1983 as a community partnership between the Atlanta Police Department (APD), NPU’s, community investors and business associations.

We serve youths 8-18 years of age by implementing constructive, carefully planned athletic and academic activities aimed at teaching moral, civic, academic, and social principles to at-risk youths in a safe and nurturing environment.

We support over 2,800 children annually through programs such as youth summer camp, youth athletic leagues and an afterschool program with tutoring at our two separate facilities in the inner city of Atlanta.
