On 12/26/2025 at 19:42, Blountsville Fire & Rescue was dispatched to the 1300 block of Bullard Rd for a house fire. Engine 1 arrived to find a 2 story residential structure well involved with fire. A primary search was completed and the fire was brought under control. The structure was vacant at the time of the incident and the cause is currently under investigation.

We appreciate the assistance from Royal FD, Holly Pond FD, Lifeguard EMS, and Alabama Power.

Volunteer Firefighter 160 – Module I Complete!
This week, students from Fairview Fire Department, Royal Fire Department, Tri-County Fire Department, and Holly Pond Fire & Rescue successfully completed Module I of the Alabama Fire College Volunteer Firefighter 160 course! The class was taught at Holly Pond.
This state-approved training provides foundational skills in fire behavior, building construction, safety, and more—preparing our volunteers to serve their communities with confidence and professionalism.
A big thank you to all the students for their hard work and dedication, and to the instructors and departments who supported this training.
Module II will begin in January, and we look forward to watching these firefighters continue their journey.

🔥 SPACE HEATER SAFETY REMINDER 🔥
As temperatures drop, many of us turn to space heaters to stay warm. Holly Pond Fire & Rescue wants to remind everyone to use them safely to prevent fires and keep your family protected.
✔️ Space Heater Safety Tips:
• Keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet away from space heaters.
• Always place heaters on a flat, sturdy surface — never on furniture or uneven floors.
• Plug heaters directly into a wall outlet. Avoid extension cords and power strips, as they can overheat.
• Never leave a space heater unattended. Turn it off when you leave the room or go to sleep.
• Ensure your heater has an automatic shutoff feature in case it tips over.
• Keep children and pets at a safe distance.
• Test your smoke alarms to make sure they’re working properly.
Staying warm is important — staying safe is essential.

The Holly Pond Fire Department has been busy the last few weeks.

On September 28, we assisted with the inaugural Holly Pond cross country meet. The same day we taught a CPR class that was available to the public.

We spent time with the 8th grade class at Holly Pond School discussing CPR. During that visit, student’s were able to ask questions about being a first responder.

Last week we participated in the Holly Pond Homecoming Parade and visited the elementary school for fire prevention week.

This Tuesday, we met with the Children’s program at Guy Hunt Library!

Lots of exciting things happening—stay tuned for more ways the Holly Pond Fire Department is serving our community!

📢Fire Danger Advisory Issued by the AFC📢

As drought conditions worsen, due to the recent lack of precipitation and high temperatures, the Alabama Forestry Commission is issuing a Statewide Fire Danger Advisory. Until the state receives sufficient rainfall to alleviate the severe dry situation, especially in central Alabama, this elevated fire danger will persist for the foreseeable future.

Mitigation measures should be considered to protect lives and property from wildfire damage. If possible, refrain from burning until fire danger has diminished. Always obtain a permit for prescribed burns, and ensure adequate equipment and personnel are present. Never leave a fire until it is safely extinguished. Conduct post-burn patrols for several days to ensure that reignition has not occurred and firebreaks have not been compromised. In residential areas, be sure to have a water hose prepared and adjacent to the burning area. After burning debris piles, it is necessary to thoroughly soak the area until cold.

As this advisory continues and potentially escalates, it is essential to maintain situational awareness. Burning debris piles can continue to smolder for multiple days, eventually spreading out of a previously contained area. Under these critically dry conditions, chances of embers igniting outside of the main burn area are increased. Fires in areas with deep duff (layers of decaying vegetable matter covering the ground under trees) can also continue to burn for extended periods of time, potentially causing tree mortality. Driving vehicles into tall grasses, as well as equipment use such as bush-hogging, hay baling, or mulching, can spark ignition.

The Alabama Forestry Commission will continue to monitor the strengthening drought and wildfire statistics across the state. The agency will evaluate if further restrictions are needed in the coming weeks.

On September 11, 2001, our world changed forever. Nearly 3,000 innocent people lost their lives in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and United Flight 93.

We lost 343 firefighters on that day.
As a tribute to those 343, four members of Holly Pond Fire and Rescue participated in the 9/11 stair challenge.

Woodrow Brown, Ty Harrison, Michael Butler, and Caleb Graves took to the stairs, wearing bunker gear and an air pack, to honor our brothers and sisters we lost that day.

Thank you to Anytime Fitness of Arab for your support and the use of your stair climber.

We will never forget.
