🚒🌿 Busy Weekend for Your Hollister Fire Department 🌿🚒

Over the weekend, your Hollister Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire in the county area along Diablo Hills Road. Working alongside CAL FIRE crews, firefighters actively engaged in suppression efforts and successfully contained the fire at approximately 30 acres.

At the same time, Hollister and CAL FIRE personnel were committed to a separate rescue mission in South County near Clear Creek. With resources assigned to both incidents, Hollister Fire Department reached Level 0 status, meaning all available units were committed and county coverage was temporarily depleted.

These situations highlight the critical importance of our mutual aid partnerships. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our neighboring agencies, whose assistance helps ensure emergency coverage remains available when local resources are stretched thin.

Our firefighters are committed to serving our community, and we will continue working closely with our allied agencies to meet the needs of our residents during even the busiest times.

🚨 Wildland fire response off Santa Ana Rd in Hollister has been contained to 6.4 acres after a strong multi-agency response. Smoke was visible from across town as crews worked quickly to stop forward progress.

Crews are expected to remain on scene for approximately 2 hours for mop-up operations.

The Hollister Fire Department is proud to announce the promotion of Firefighter Aaron Kakebeen to the position of Engineer, effective May 16, 2026.

Engineer Kakebeen, a Hollister native, has consistently demonstrated professionalism, dedication, and a strong commitment to serving the Hollister community.  Throughout his career with the department, he has earned the respect of his peers through his work ethic and operational knowledge.

As Engineer, Aaron will take on increased responsibilities in apparatus operations, emergency response, and crew support, helping ensure the continued delivery of high-quality fire and emergency serv to our community.

🚨🐄 Just another day at Hollister Fire… or should we say udderly unexpected? 😄🚒

When you come to work as a Hollister firefighter, you never know what kind of call the day will bring! Today, Chief 9200 and Engine 13 traded hoses for herding skills after responding to a calf on the loose near Hillcrest & Fairview.

Thanks to quick teamwork (and maybe a little patience 🐮), our four-legged friend was safely caught and reunited with its owner—unharmed and back where it belongs.

From emergencies to unexpected animal rescues, no two days in the fire service are ever the same. We’re always proud to serve our community—whether it walks on two legs or four! ❤️🚒

Last week, Hollister Fire Department had the opportunity to attend a local college and career fair.

We truly enjoyed spending time with the students, answering their questions, and sharing what it takes to become a firefighter. 🚒🔥

One of the biggest takeaways? Stay focused in English and Math! Firefighters do a lot more than fight fires — we read and write detailed reports, follow complex instructions, calculate water flow and pump pressures, and make quick decisions that rely on strong math skills.

We’re proud to encourage the next generation to work hard, stay curious, and chase their goals. Who knows — we may see some of these students in the fire service one day! 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒
