Tonight on 4/11/18, Your Hollister Fire Explorers trained on: Fire hose advancement techniques, water stream patterns, fire suppression techniques, communication, and donning/doffing the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus(air tanks). Donning in under 1 minute. These fine young men and women are very eager and aggressive learners, hungry for more knowledge and the willingness to help eachother. Tonight’s training was a mock firefighters combat challenge, consisting of a hose roll pull, a 180 pound dummy drag, pulling a charged hand line 100 feet, sledge hammer sled, and a pike pole raises. “There will be Obsticales. For tonight’s training, your Hollister Fire Explores are refining their knowledge of the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus. Learning about the different methods of air consumption and the dangers of smoke inhalation. Toward the end of our training, the San Benito County AMR Medic Unit 11, were scheduled to stop by and give a presentation to our Explorers about the ambulance and the tools the units utilize on a daily basis.
