The Hollidaysburg Borough Police Department is committed to service for the residents and guests of Hollidaysburg Borough. ice officers . The Chief of the department is Rodney B. Hollidaysburg Borough was founded in 1836 making this community older than the County of Blair, which was founded in 1846. Upon organization of the County, Hollidaysburg was named, and remains the County Seat. Hollidaysburg is home to the county jail and courthouse as well as five schools numerous churches. Best records indicate that the Borough began paying constable's around 1847. Since this time our department has evolved into the first class, leading department residents have come to know and cherish. FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER

HOLLIDAYSBURG BOROUGH

Qualified persons are invited to apply to the Borough of Hollidaysburg Civil Service Commission to take competitive examinations leading to eligibility for appointment as a Full-Time Patrolman for the Hollidaysburg Police Department.

General Requirements:

Candidates, at the time of application must: (1) Possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma (GED); (2) Be Act 120 Certified under the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Act (Act 120), or shall have successfully completed Act 120 Training and successfully passed the final exam, thus being eligible for Act 120 Certification once hired by the Borough; (3) Be a United States Citizen; (4) Be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer; (5) Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age; and (6) Possess valid motor vehicle license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Successful applicants must establish a principle residence within thirty (30) air miles of the Borough of Hollidaysburg within twelve (12) months after successfully completing a twelve (12) month probationary period.

Successful applicants must also meet all the requirements of the Borough’s Civil Service Rules and Regulations that will include a background investigation, and if selected, be required to successfully pass a physical and psychological examination.

• Per the collective bargaining agreement, the 2026 starting salary is $60,715 for the first six months. $63,252 for the second six months and $66,934 starting the second year. Wage increases are anticipated for the renewal of the collective bargaining agreement starting 2027.
• Lateral pay up to $76,960 for year 2026 based on prior years of service
• Vested after 12 years of completed service
• Retirement: 25/55 (Years/Age) 50% of last 3 years
• Facial hair and tattoos permitted
• Generous benefit / time off package
• Ample overtime opportunities for participation in the Drug and DUI Task Forces, Aggressive driving and Occupant Protection grants and other special details.

An application form and details of the selection process may be obtained at the Hollidaysburg Municipal Building Administration Office on the second floor, located at 401 Blair Street, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648. A completed application must be returned to Borough Secretary Sara Williams at the Hollidaysburg Municipal Building on or before close of business on June 30, 2026.

Hollidaysburg Borough Police Department’s K9 Dea to get donation of body armor

Hollidaysburg Borough Police Department, PA - K9 Dea will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Dea’s vest was sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. and will be embroidered with the sentiment “Born to Love-Trained to Serve-Loyal Always”. Delivery is expected within ten weeks.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 6,513 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old, actively employed, and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest.
