Our new Firefighter Memorial is really starting to take shape. Bridgewater Landscaping & Lawn is here today grading the top soil, planting tree’s, and continuing to work to on the landscaping around the memorial. This project could not have been possible without businesses like this donating material, labor, and time to help make this project possible. We can not wait to host our Annual Firefighter Memorial at Station 52 (1534 S. Crissey Rd.) on Saturday October 10th at Noon!

We want to say a big thank you to the Wolf Creek YMCA for allowing us to train along side your life guards this week!! This joint training consisted of scenario based pediatric drownings patients. Fire/Ems crews worked along side life guard staff during different scenarios on how to safely rescue and begin resuscitation of a pediatric drownings patient (simulated).

The fire department teamed up with Springfield Local Schools demonstrated this rescue operation to make sure bus drivers have a plan.

As of 7:00 a.m. EDT today, July 16, AirNow reported an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 472—Hazardous—with PM10 identified as the primary pollutant in the Toledo reporting area.

Conditions outside are very hazy, and visibility may be reduced. Everyone should reduce exposure and take the following precautions:

🏠 Stay indoors whenever possible.
🪟 Keep windows and doors closed.
💨 Use filtered or recirculated indoor air if available.
🏃 Avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
❤️ Check on children, older adults, pregnant individuals, outdoor workers, active exercisers, and people with heart or lung conditions.

What do we do when there are no city or county hydrants to hook up to for water supply?

Dry hydrants are scattered throughout our response area. These hydrants are connected to ponds or large bodies of water in rural areas. Today crew’s trained on pump operations off of dry hydrants. It’s always good to spray water to cool off in this heat 🥵

This morning just before 3AM a fire was reported at Siegel Suites on Trust Drive. Crews arrived on scene to find heavy fire showing. Thank you to toledofirerescue maumeefiredept sylvaniatownshipfiredepartment and Monclova FD for your assistance in bringing this fire under control. Due to the size of fire, and warm temperatures overnight this fire reached 2 alarms. Crews have remained on scene while the fire is under investigation. No civilian injuries were reported, 1 firefighter was transported due to a heat related emergency. This fire remains under investigation by the State of Ohio Fire Marshal Office.

Words do not come easy when it comes to describing a person like Tony. All the I’m sorry’s in the world can not ease the pain and emptiness your department is experiencing during this time. It is our job to lift your department up during this time as you were so gracious in doing for us a few years ago. It’s times like these that fire departments and personnel come together to honor a true pioneer and legend in the fire service. This week we lift up the City of Napoleon Fire and Rescue and stand along side you as we all gather to pay our final respects to Tony Druhot. It’s never goodbye, it’s just till next time.

It is time for the Annual Strawberry Festival at the Community Homecoming park located on Angola Rd, in Springfield Township. We hope that it will be our biggest event ever!
