I am so thankful my bipartisan Science of Reading (phonics) bill, HB5697, was signed into law by the Governor this summer! Many have said this was the most important bill signed into law this session and even over the past years.

It is hard to overstate its importance. Implemented successfully, it will change the trajectory of our reading scores across the state in the coming years!

Michigan students took standardized tests in the spring. But reading scores have dropped slightly from the year before across grades.
