Books & Blooms will be back this Monday, June 22 with our very own Horticulture team at Windmill Island Gardens! Enjoy an interactive story time with the Herrick District Library, then decorate biodegradable planters and take home flower seedlings started right here in our own greenhouse, and build a sticker bug, too! The fun starts at 10:00am. We'll see you soon!🐛🌱

Tomorrow's De Tuin Klas - Garden to Table is officially SOLD OUT! We can't wait to get growing with everyone starting their vegetable gardens! 🍅🌱

If you missed out on this class, join un on July 16 for De Tuin Klas - Garden Guardians where Michigan State University Extension Horticulture Educator, Deanna Hedlund, and Windmill Island Gardens’ Grounds and Horticulture Manager, Emily Van Staalduinen, will guide you through garden maintenance best practices. Participants will also walk the campus of Windmill Island Gardens to get a real-life look at summer garden concerns and ways to address them. You’ll go home with weed-identification information and other resources to best care for your spaces!🌱

We had a GREAT turn out for the first Books & Blooms of the season this morning! A big thank you to our friends from the Herrick District Library and Ready for School for joining us and making this morning so much fun!

We'll see you again next week where our very own Windmill Island Gardens Horticulture team will have fun, hands-on planting activities!

Calling all Foodies! We are excited to launch an all-new summer Food Truck Monday series at Windmill Island Gardens! Each Monday in July, stop by Windmill Island Gardens for lunch to pick from two delicious local food truck options! Stay and eat in our picnic shelter, have a picnic in the park, or take your lunch to go, every Monday, all July long!

Food trucks will be parked in the parking lot next to the picnic shelter, no park admission required! Find 2 delicious lunch options on Mondays July 6, 13, 20, & 27 parked and ready to serve you from 11:00am - 2:00pm, perfect timing for your lunch break!

And attention parents, if you’re looking for even MORE summer fun, Food Truck Mondays happen right after our children’s series Books & Blooms, so make a day of it and enjoy an interactive story time, fun hands-on activities, park attractions, and finish it off with a delicious lunch!

Chalk the Walk is back again for another fun summer day of creativity! Join us at Windmill Island Gardens on Saturday, July 11 to cover our walkways in chalk art all throughout the park alongside professional artist Hallie LeBlanc of Abundance Mobile Art Studio! No chalk? No problem! Our programming staff will be selling chalk all day long, and you can even grab a FREE ice cream courtesy of the Holland Polar Patrol from 11:00am - 1:00pm!☀

Join us for the annual Art on the Island Contest and Gala at Windmill Island Gardens! On Thursday, September 3, a variety of submitted artwork created by local artists will be displayed in categories of Plein Air, Canvas & Paper Works, and Mixed Media & Dimensional Works, and we want YOU to be a part of it! Art submissions will be accepted until Friday, August 28. Watch this video to catch a sneak peek of last year’s Gala!
