Sorry for the late post. Yesterday we remember the sacrifice of Steve Cook who was LODD 46 years ago. May we always remember FF Steve Cook.

Holland Fire Department. Holland, MI
Firefighter Cook died from the injuries he sustained after being hit in the head by an I-beam when a wall collapsed while operating at a fire at the Holland Mold and Engineering Co. and Baus Products on S. Washington Avenue. Two other firefighters were also injured in the fire.

Zero-Visibility search training

Crews make entry into an unknown (to them) building and search for victims

Each Firefighter has a covering over their SCBA mask, blocking out vision while still allowing a small amount of light.

Crews also came across interior locked doors, having to force entry in zero-visibility conditions.

This morning at approximately 5:00 am, C-shift firefighters responded to a reported structure fire in the 1100 block of Matt Urban Dr.

At approximately 7:00 am they also responded to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment at Waverly and 48th st.

This week Holland Professional Firefighters Local 759 with the help of local residents and businesses donated toys for the annual Toys for tots event.

Special thanks to Lakeshore Diagnostics (Dan and Morgan) for dropping off a couple car loads of toys.

Total number for this year was 201 toys up from 86 from last year. Couldn’t have done it without the support of everyone. Successful event!
