A few weeks ago C shift got to do some extrication training thanks to American Hero Towing for the cars. Good training and using some not so common tactics to get the results needed.

With the help of Administrative staff and Paid on Call response, the 5 on duty B-Shift members have handled 11 calls already since that start of the shift at 0800. 🚀

Sorry for the late post. Yesterday we remember the sacrifice of Steve Cook who was LODD 46 years ago. May we always remember FF Steve Cook.

Firefighter Steven Don Cook, 30
Holland Fire Department. Holland, MI
Firefighter Cook died from the injuries he sustained after being hit in the head by an I-beam when a wall collapsed while operating at a fire at the Holland Mold and Engineering Co. and Baus Products on S. Washington Avenue. Two other firefighters were also injured in the fire.

Zero-Visibility search training

Crews make entry into an unknown (to them) building and search for victims

Each Firefighter has a covering over their SCBA mask, blocking out vision while still allowing a small amount of light.

Crews also came across interior locked doors, having to force entry in zero-visibility conditions.

This morning at approximately 5:00 am, C-shift firefighters responded to a reported structure fire in the 1100 block of Matt Urban Dr.

At approximately 7:00 am they also responded to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment at Waverly and 48th st.
