I hope this post finds you and yours healthy and safe. COVID-19 has certainly affected us all in many significant ways. As for Deb and me, we have not been able to be physically present with any of our family since March 16th. With all of this isolation time, I’ve had time to think about all of the people who are supporting my campaign for Prosecutor and would like to thank them.

I want to also thank the dozens of my: family, friends, and the entire staff at the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office for their support.

Additionally, I am grateful for the support I’ve received from law enforcement leaders and local government officials, including: judges, mayors, city administrators, and many others who are unable to publicly endorse me in a partisan election.

The Farm Bureau of Ottawa County held their annual Legislative Breakfast on Friday, March 6, 2020, at the Countryside Greenhouse in Allendale. I would like to thank the Farm Bureau for inviting me to attend and for providing a wonderful breakfast as well as the opportunity to talk to several Farm Bureau members. It was interesting to learn more about what important issues our farmers face here in Ottawa County and to hear the responses of our local legislators and public officials to the members' questions. Agriculture continues to be an extremely important industry here in Ottawa County, and I was honored to spend time with those who are dedicated to ensuring that it remains so moving forward. Thanks to everyone I had the opportunity to speak with on Friday and for your offers of support for my campaign. The Prosecuting Attorney’s Association of Michigan (PAAM) is where my career in prosecution began with a summer internship at the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office in 1987. Now, after serving for nearly 31 years as an Assistant, Senior Assistant and Chief Assistant Prosecutor (the last 29 years in Ottawa County), I was honored to be recognized by PAAM for 30 years of service at this year’s PAAM Mid-Winter Conference at the Grand Traverse Resort. I would like to continue to serve the people of Ottawa County as their next Elected Prosecuting Attorney following the retirement of Ron Frantz at the end of this year. Any support you can provide to my campaign will be greatly appreciated. This week I was honored to receive the endorsement of my candidacy for Ottawa County Prosecutor from the Police Officers Association of Michigan! POAM represents over 12,000 law enforcement professionals throughout the State of Michigan. As one who has the utmost respect and admiration for law enforcement professionals based upon my 31 years of prosecution experience, this endorsement is truly humbling and appreciated.

I ask that everyone who sees this post please take a moment to reflect on the vital role law enforcement fills in our communities to protect and serve us all. As the elected Prosecutor, I will continue to honor the work that they do by promoting public safety, crime victim’s rights, and protecting our children. As the campaign continues, I’ve met many dedicated public servants and involved citizens at the township board meetings and city council meetings throughout Ottawa County (stars on the map indicate places visited so far). It’s been an enjoyable and interesting experience to learn about the individual issues that affect each of these communities. This week, I look forward to spending time visiting with the boards of Crockery, Spring Lake, and Tallmadge Townships, and will continue until I’ve visited them all.
