The storm last night took out the City Hall sign!!

We’d planned to get a new one, but now we are executing the plan early to replace it.

We need your vote. Look at the attached pics and vote on the design you like best. Text 1, 2, 3, or 4 to 660-441-8429 to vote. The numbers are written on each picture.

These were designed by Mr. Jolly’s middle school class in the 2025-2026 school year!

Leaves. It's the topic of the day. It might be wishful thinking, but "leaf season" is right around the corner!

As the leaves fall, please do not put them in your ditches. It plugs up culverts, which can cause flooding.

You can rake the leaves, put them NEXT to the road (but not in the ditch - do the best you can) and then you MUST call City Hall at 816-732-4811 and request a leaf pickup. If you have multiple cleanups of your yard, call every time your leaves are ready. City Hall will create a work order for the street department to come by your house and pickup your leaves.

As always, the street department is subject to the weather and has other work to do, so be patient with them.

That storm was a doozy!!

Reminder to all Holden residents: storm debris can be taken to the brush area behind the street barn located on N. Buffalo - (take McKissock west from Sonic, turn right on Buffalo, then follow the road around to the left to the brush pile.)

The Holden Street Department will NOT be picking up any brush curbside.

When others were running for safety, they ran toward danger, determined to help strangers and save lives. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication continue to inspire us 25 years later.

May we never forget.

One of the biggest misconceptions about policing is that officers automatically know when something is happening in the community. They can't be present everywhere, and they are not all-knowing.

The reality is that law enforcement depends on citizens to report crimes, suspicious behavior, and public safety concerns such as dangerous animals, people driving erratically or generally unsafe behavior. Officers cannot respond to issues they are unaware of. That's why timely reporting is so important.

Whether it's a suspicious vehicle, vandalism, a theft, or another concern, your call helps provide the information police need to do their job effectively. Reporting what you see is not "bothering" the police. It's being a responsible member of the community.
Keeping our neighborhoods safe is a team effort. Citizens report. Police respond. Together, we make a difference.

🔥 Burn Smart. Burn Safe. 🔥

A reminder that burn permits are required for open burning. Contact City Hall to obtain a burn permit.

With the ongoing heat and dry conditions:
• Keep a hose or water source nearby
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Watch for changing wind conditions
• Make sure your fire is completely extinguished

The continued dry weather may result in a full burn ban if conditions worsen. Please stay tuned for updates and help us reduce the risk of wildfires.
