❤️🚒 INTERNATIONAL FIREFIGHTERS’ DAY 🚒❤️

Today we proudly recognize and thank the dedicated men and women of the Ridgely Volunteer Fire Department.

Your commitment to protecting our community does not go unnoticed. Whether it’s responding to emergencies at all hours, training endlessly, or supporting one another like family — you show up every single day ready to serve.

🔥 Your bravery.
🤝 Your sacrifice.
❤️ Your dedication.

It’s what keeps our community safe.

We are beyond grateful for each and every one of you who answers the call — day or night.

From fires to medical calls, storms to standbys… you are always there when we need you most.

THANK YOU for your service, your strength, and your heart.

🇺🇸 Happy International Firefighters’ Day

We need to clear something up. Literally. There is no "all clear" siren. Emergency Management agencies do not sound sirens for an all clear after a tornado warning. Outdoor warning sirens sound for three minutes, then stop. That silence is not the sky giving you the thumbs up. And if they go off again? That is a second tornado, not an all clear. Stay sheltered until you have confirmed the warning has expired through your weather app or NOAA radio.

On Friday, May 1st, school district and local public safety agencies will be holding a mock accident at Holden High School. Do not be alarmed at the increase in emergency vehicle traffic, including lights and sirens. This is all part of the drill. This will start at approximately 9:00 am. Please spread the word.

Tornado Watch in effect until 11 pm this evening for Johnson County. Continue to stay weather aware!
