Holden Alert: On Wednesday, May 27th, 2026, Contractors working at Pine Tree Road will be capping an existing water main and moving a fire hydrant. This work will require a temporary shutdown of water service on Pine Tree Road and on portions of Salisbury Street. The outage will affect all residents located between Pine Tree Road and Old Salisbury Street. Water service is expected to be off from 9am to 4pm to allow this work to take place.

The Town of Holden DPW will begin milling and paving activities in select areas along Greenwood Parkway, Highland Street, and Wachusett Street. Residents should expect to see work starting on Tuesday, May 5th, and continuing until Friday, May 8th, weather dependent. Emergency access will be maintained throughout the work, however portions may be inaccessible for portions of the paving and we ask that residents in these areas reach out to the DPW if they expect they will need to access their driveways during the paving work. Thank you.

Town of Holden Alert: In accordance with the requirements of the Water Management Act Permit issued to the Town of Holden by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, the Town is required to enact a Water Use Restriction from May 1st until September 30th, between the hours of 9AM to 5PM. The ban restricts daily "nonessential" outdoor water use from public water sources. Please visit the Town's website at 2026_water_restriction_notice_standard.pdf for more information.

Holden Alert: The Holden DPW, W&S Division will be performing Hydrant Flushing in the Jefferson Area on Monday, April 13th from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

A message from the Holden Town Moderator Dan Nason:

Regarding the Special Town Meeting that was planned for Monday, February 23 - the meeting has been postponed due to the impending major winter storm. The new date for the Special Town Meeting is Monday, March 2nd at 7:00 PM at Wachusett Regional High School.

We are still asking that people arrive early for check in due to the large crowd that is expected.

Effective 8:00 PM on Sunday, February 22, and continuing until 6:00 AM on Wednesday, February 25, the Town Manager has declared a Snow Emergency-Parking Ban due to the upcoming winter storm. No on-street parking is allowed during a snow emergency parking ban. Vehicles parked on the street will be subject to fines and towing.

Do not push, plow, blow, or shovel snow from your driveway into the road. This decreases the effectiveness of our snow and ice removal operations and can create a public safety hazard.

Town of Holden Alert: Beginning Saturday, February 7th, overnight temperatures are expected to drop to below zero and single digits, with daytime highs in the teens. Forecasted low temperatures are expected to remain in the single digits for several days.

Holden residents are urged to take precautions to prevent frozen pipes in their homes. Please ensure your home is adequately heated and keep closet and cabinet doors open to allow warm air to circulate around plumbing.

Be especially mindful of pipes located behind walls in finished basements, near drafty windows, and in crawlspaces, as these areas are more susceptible to freezing.
