Great weekend with Republicans in Southeast Missouri! I enjoyed the opportunity to speak at the SEMO Federated Republican Women’s Red Rally on Friday Night in Cape Girardeau and the Wayne County Republicans Lincoln Days breakfast in Piedmont. I was excited to see the large crowds and energy as we head into the midterm elections. I spoke about the opportunity coming this fall for citizens to vote on whether they think the state income tax should be eliminated, as well as highlighted our state budget. I’m proud to represent the 25th district and its great citizens and communities!

The positive momentum to support our farmers and ranchers has continued this week with the Missouri Senate voting to pass my legislation regarding cottons gins and farm vehicles and emissions inspection requirements!

Under Senate Bill 1033, we've removed a regulatory burden regarding the permitting process for cotton gins, making it easier to build a new gin or increase capacity at an existing gin. This legislation also exempts vehicles older than 10 years old and used just for local farming operations or federally defined as covered farm vehicles from emissions inspection requirements These are vehicles that operate solely within 50 miles of the farm or just transport products to and from the owner’s farm or ranch.

The City of Thayer is home to the FIRST newly constructed Jordan's Truck Stop in Missouri! This is an exciting development for Oregon County and hopefully the start of more economic growth in the region. Congratulations the community for creating a passion and the drive to make it happen - and for Jordan's Truck Stop and their confidence in their investment!

Creation of 35 new jobs in the area and a HUGE investment into the community. Highway 63 access, beautiful outer road with water and sewer access infrastructure in place and development for future growth and more businesses to come. READY for future businesses!

Today was Jordan’s Travel Center in Thayer’s Grand Opening. The store officially opened at 5:30 this morning, and a ribbon-cutting was held at 11 this morning. Bob Eckman spoke first He talked about how it all started

This week the Missouri Senate passed my legislation creating an independent oversight commission to hear appeals of certain decisions made by MSHSAA. As mentioned in the Governor’s State of the State address, we need to return to the values of student success, transparency, accountability, and good governance to MSHSAA.

The oversight commission shall hear only appeals of decisions relating to eligibility due to transfers of students deemed to be for athletic purposes and appeals relating to contests and contest procedures. The oversight commission may also recommend rule changes to be considered through MSHSAA’s rulemaking procedures. Lastly, MSHSAA shall prepare within the first 30 days of the legislative session an annual report to be presented to the legislature allowing for increased accountability, integrity, and transparency.
