πŸΎπŸ•Training is hard work!

CAC Therapy-Dog-in-Training Dora has been working hard on her outdoor/public skills...just in time for CAC's Root Beer Float Run this Saturday.πŸƒ

"The outdoors really drives up her energy," said Yesenia, Dora's handler and CAC therapist, "so it was great to help her train while all of her senses were high. There was a lot of stimulation and distraction...other dogs, kids, balls being thrown."πŸ˜„

πŸ’™Good girl, Dora!🀩 SOUL Harbour Ranch Animal Therapy Program

You can meet Dora at the run. Register today at https://bit.ly/CACRun26
NOTE: Because of the number of police/service dogs at the run, participants are asked to keep their pets at home.

πŸ’™ Healing begins with being seen.

Child sexual abuse can affect any child, but some children face greater risks because of the circumstances and challenges in their lives.

In this month’s The Monthly Mindset, CAC CEO Melanie Pignotti explores the barriers that can increase vulnerability and why understanding these risks is essential to protecting children and supporting healing.

When we recognize the challenges children face, we can better ensure they are seen, heard and protected. πŸ’™

πŸ’™ Knowledge is power!

This week, three of our amazing FAS team members represented CAC at the Illinois Juvenile Officers Association Conference! πŸ‘

With their trademark professionalism, compassion and expertise, Jessica, Bri, and Taylor led sessions on:

🎀 β€œFirst Response Matters” β€” discussing minimal facts interviewing

🎀 β€œSecond Impact Matters” β€” focusing on supporting Multidisciplinary Team member mental health

We are so proud to see our team sharing their knowledge and helping professionals better serve children and families throughout Illinois. πŸ’™

Way to go, women of CAC! Thank you for leading by example and sharing what you've learned along the way. ✨

Fun fact: In the third photo, Taylor is pictured with her DARE officer from grade school!

πŸ’™ We love volunteers! πŸ’™

A huge thank you to Alliant Credit Union for spending the afternoon with us at CAC! πŸ™ŒπŸŒΊ

Your hard work, energy and helping hands beautified our front yard which is the first thing our client families see when they arrive. πŸ’ͺ✨

When community partners invest their time and talents in local nonprofits, everyone wins. Together, we can create a stronger, more caring community for kids. πŸ’™

β˜€οΈπŸ˜Ž Summer is here!

From staycations to vacations, parents can feel a lot of pressure to create the perfect summer. But according to Bianca, CAC’s Safe from the Start Supervisor, it’s often the simplest moments that matter most πŸ’™

πŸ’¬ β€œSimple routines, shared meals, walks, library visits and downtime all contribute to emotional well-being.”

The good news? Meaningful memories don’t have to be expensive, elaborate or Instagram-worthy. Sometimes the best summer days are the ones spent together. πŸŒ³πŸ“šπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸ‰

✨ What’s your favorite simple summer activity? Tell us in the comments! πŸ‘‡
