25 YEARS LATER — WE REMEMBER.

This afternoon on Meet Me at the Diner, I’ll be joined by Tami and Jim Baber to talk about Lights on Main, one of Hodges’ most meaningful community traditions.

On Saturday, September 12, the community will gather in Hodges for a day of remembrance, fellowship and activities honoring those whose lives were lost or forever changed on September 11, 2001 — and the firefighters, EMS personnel, law enforcement officers and other first responders who answered the call.

Tami and Jim will give us a preview of this year’s Lights on Main, including activities throughout the day, the wreath laying and remembrance ceremony, music and community events, and the powerful tribute presented by the Hodges-Cokesbury Volunteer Fire Department at exactly 9:11 PM, with lights and sirens joining in remembrance.

This year carries special meaning.

Twenty-five years have passed since September 11, 2001.

For those of us who remember that day, some memories never fade. For younger generations who weren't yet born, traditions like Lights on Main help ensure that the stories of sacrifice, courage and service are passed forward.

We’ll talk about why Hodges continues this tradition, what it means to our first responders and our community, and why two words remain just as important today:

Join us as we pay tribute to all First Responders while commemorating the 25th Anniversary of 9/11.

Hodges Cokesbury Volunteer Fire Department invites you to Lights on Main
Saturday, September 12, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, at 4410 Main Street, Hodges

This FREE community event is packed with a full day of fun for the whole family! Enjoy craft vendors, delicious food trucks, live music, entertainment, and so much more.

The day starts with a Color Run at Hodges Park. Kids & adults are encouraged to come out and run/walk 11 laps. Line up is at 8:46am (when the south tower was hit), the run starts at 9:03am (when the north tower was hit) and ends at 9:37am (when the Pentagon was hit). Afterwards, we will make our way to the Gazebo in the center of Hodges where the parade begins promptly at 10:03am (when Flight 93 crashed).
Line Main Street and witness our moving Walk to Remember, where First Responders and others will take 343 steps in honor of the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice, while remembering all the lives lost on that tragic day.

Following the Walk to Remember, we will hold a Wreath Laying Ceremony to further honor and pay tribute to those who gave their lives and the First Responders who continue to serve and protect our communities. We have Rep. John McCravy and Adjutant General Stilwell speaking during this time.

Bring the kids and spend time in the Kid's Zone, featuring FUN by We Three Inflatables. Cast a line and fish with DNR, tackle the obstacle course, and enjoy activities for all ages.

Be on Scene at 9:11 PM, gather for our unforgettable Musical Light Show Tribute as fire trucks, EMS, and police vehicles illuminate our small town in a powerful display of remembrance and gratitude.

Come celebrate, honor, and remember the brave First Responders who serve our communities every day.
