πŸ“ΈπŸ“… Camp Murphy Post Engineers, May 1944.

The U.S. mobilized for war after the bombing of Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941. Camp Murphy, built in 1942, included the Southern Signal Corps School, a top-secret radar training school. Located in what is now Jonathan Dickinson State Park, many locals had jobs at the camp. Post engineers kept the camp running, managing everything from clogged plumbing to repair and maintenance on buildings.

Did You Know: to preserve the secrecy of radar, hometown newspaper mentions of servicemen training at Camp Murphy described them as "radio technicians" undergoing a "course of special instruction."
